Hi... Is there any way to import qfx web connect files? Wells Fargo charges for direct connect which is the only way I can figure out to to connect. Unless there is a way to import the qfx file they generate for free, the direct connect fees would be higher than quicken's yearly fee thus forcing me to stay with quicken. I hope there is as I don't like quicken!!!

    Hi Charles,

Take a look at this Moneydance KB article regarding manual downloads/imports:
    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/m...

If I may make a suggestion, download the trial version of Moneydance to see if it suits your needs and to see if you can import your Quicken data.

You can d/l the trial version here:

Just to add: while Moneydance can't use the function that Quicken calls Web Connect, it can accept manually downloaded QFX files. Some banks (incorrectly) give the same labels to these files, but if you can download a QFX file, you should be able to import it via File -> Import from the Moneydance menu bar, as that link Kevin gave above describes.

    Charles,

Just my 2 cents worth. I have the same problem with my bank. If you are a Windows user, you can associate .qfx files with Moneydance(Instead of Quicken). After downloading the QFX file, just double click the file and will load directly in Moneydance.
Not as swift as direct connect, but works quite well for me.

    Cheers,

My back just switched from being able to select and download transactions directly into MoneyDance to downloading transactions into a CSV or QFX file. MD processed the QFX file without issue. Now I understand the need for the Confrim/Merge buttons.

I'm having trouble with downloading into Moneydance with either CSV or QFX. With QFX, it puts all payments in as charges and all charges in as payments. With CSV, I can't seem to figure out which fields to use and which to ignore to get the data I want. All I'm trying to import with CSV is date, description, & amount. If I choose those 3 names as my first 3 fields & ignore the rest, I get garbage. Help! TIA!

    Hi Lynn,

Can you post a sample of the CSV file? Just make sure that there is no sensitive information in it.

Something else to check is in Preferences on the Network tab, tick the option to 'Ignore Transaction Types in Favor of Amount Signs'.

    Hi Kevin,

I just now figured out how to do the CSV import.  I found the Importing
CSV Files help article & eventually figured out how my csv file needs to
be & what fields to have in MD.  Now I need to make good enough notes
for myself that I remember how to do it next time!  Thanks for your
reply & offer of help, though!

    Hi Lynn.

You may want to try Kevin N suggestion to get QFX file import working correctly.

QFX provides some important advantages over CSV file types when importing into Moneydance. The main being it have a feature which prevent duplication of transaction if a transaction exists when importing the next set of data.

OFX/QFX files should contain a "Unique Transaction ID" (FITID) for each transaction. Moneydance uses this ID to prevent duplicates.
It does not matter how many times you import this file into Moneydance the transaction only appears once.

The CSV file specifications do not include the equivalent to FITID and thus you can get duplicates on importing if transitions already exist in Moneydance.

    Hope this helps.
