Why can't Citi Cards get their act together?

DonRtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484299762020-06-27T18:33:24Z2020-06-27T18:33:24ZCiti Cards Regularly Fails

This is sad news. We had heard that Citi connections were working for everyone for the last few weeks since their last major outage.

For those of you would be willing, could you send us the full contents of your error console in a new private thread? This may contain more detailed information about exactly what's going wrong. We probably only need a few of these to cross reference, so if you're not willing, that's ok.

Here's how to get the logs:

1) In Moneydance, click on the Help menu in the Moneydance menu bar and select the Console Window option. This will open the console messages window.
2) While the Console Window is open, attempt to connect to your bank. Any error messages should be recorded to the Console.
3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the Copy to Clipboard button at the bottom to copy the text.
4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file (preferably saved with a .txt extension) and attach that file to your response.

Again please DO NOT post your logs here or on any public thread, since they may contain your personal account information. Please open up a separate private thread.

I just upgraded to 2020.1 1924 [from 2019.4 1899] with the hope it would fix the problem. Same error message upon first run of 2020. I deleted CitiCard online in MD. I deleted MD on the Citi website as an allowed desktop app. Asked Citi to add a desktop app access. Set up CitiCard in MD. Asked MD to download CitiCard transactions. Same message. The desktop app that showed up in Citi was MD 2019, NOT 2020.1 ???

I don't have a big problem with downloading a file from the Citi website, but it is just one more nuisance with MD.

davet65tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484299762020-09-04T17:39:27Z2020-09-04T17:39:27ZCiti Cards Regularly Fails

I called CitiCards today, spoke with a Customer Service Rep who did seem to know about transaction downloads. That catches everything up, so I haven't worried about it.

So, questions:

Is your "still not able to download" constant? i.e. it never works? If so, you need to check your login credentials, and maybe reset them in MD as well.

Does it occasionally work? If so, I think that's just Citi being a pain. That's what happens to me.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484299762020-11-02T13:27:15Z2020-11-02T13:27:55ZCiti Cards Regularly Fails

I started another discussion on Sears which is also a CitiCard getting a 500 error and it has been over 12 days with no response from support.

A http 400 error sounds like a problem at the web server level i.e. it is not getting as far as talking to the OFX software underneath.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484299762020-11-03T00:57:08Z2020-11-03T00:57:08ZCiti Cards Regularly Fails

dwg,

Many thanks; that appears to have worked.

A couple of hints for others:
I'm on a Mac, so had to "run/open" the xxxx_.py.webloc download to a .py before I could Open Script and Run and select the account to clear it.
I deleted the Citi Desktop App setup for Moneydance before doing anything. Turns out I apparently should have left that set up in order to re-establish the Citi/MD account. I just enabled it up again.

While I was doing the above, I cleared out my Schwab online account settings, anticipating I should have a clean start when Schwab gets fixed.

Many thanks again, dwg!

davet65tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484299762020-12-13T15:16:16Z2020-12-13T15:16:19ZCiti Cards Regularly Fails

Folks, here it is DEC 13, 2020 and WE ARE STLL HAVIN THIS CRAP! It is NOT any MoneyDance or Quicken or QuickBooks issue - it is CITI ! Citi Bank / Citi Cards CANNOT GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER. For those of you who seem short on troubleshooting skills; here's the proof - don't be limited to say, "Oh, let me update my app and try again." Go to what is called a COMPUTER aka PC or Laptop, and just go to http://citicards.com - THAT is PROOF that it's Citi issue! "HTTP ERROR 400, This page isn't working." So, there is NO 'finger-pointing' - it is, plain and simple CITI issue! This has been happening at least for the past month! I think they may be getting DDos-ed (Distributed Denial of Service) and they simply don't know how to handle it. A couple/few years ago, they forced me to get a new card, since they said they had been compromised - and I'm glad they did! Still, this continued 404 "page isn't working" error means their site is DOWN, basically - and that is on "them," not MoneyDance or anyone else. Thanks.

Tom Davis
