There are three potential ways in Moneydance for you to download you transaction data. These can be summarised as:

Direct Connect

Using the embedded browser, I will call this Moneydance Connect

Using your system browser

Direct Connect requires your bank to have the infrastructure that supports this method and for you to have this enabled for your accounts and to have configured its use.

The institutions known to support this and that Moneydance has connection information for can be found at:

https://infinitekind.com/fi

If this option has been configured the Download button at the top of the register and the Download "Account name" command in the menus will instigate a download using this method.

Moneydance Connect is a new system, still under development. Its goal is to be able to capture downloads from the Internet Banking sites or to even be able to automate the process.

If Direct connect is not configured but you have set up the Bank's URL in the configuration then the Download button at the top of the register and the Download "Account name" command in the menus will instigate a download using this method.

At its basic level after you perform whatever actions are need on the bank site and selecting to download the transactions file the system intercepts this file and loads the transactions.

As said this system is still very much under development and there are many banks it will not work with, it cana fail at various points, some sites give the your browser it out of date message others let you get part way. Users have provided the developer with log files from attempts to connect to various banks in order to make it compatible with more sites,

The system level browser will start if you select the "Open Account Website" menu option. With this option you just use your normal browser to download the data and then select the import command in Moneydance to import the data.

While I cannot be certain I suspect you may be trying the Moneydance Connect method, so failure is not unexpected.

Chase, from previous discussion, is known to support direct connect it would be the preferred method at this stage. I know nothing about Edward Jones.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487836972020-10-30T17:01:51Z2020-10-30T17:01:51ZCannot get MoneyDance to work

Note also that, when I had a Chase account about 5 years ago, you had to have them activate direct access and it was not free.

avp2tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/487836972020-10-30T20:26:01Z2020-10-30T20:26:01ZCannot get MoneyDance to work

I'm fellow user.

From past discussions around Chase I have made the following notes around setting up Direct Connect.

I believe You may need to activate your account for direct connections with Chase. Note that this is different than simply logging onto their website. This is what has been pieced together from other Chase customers about how to do this:

Log on to the Chase website.

Look to the upper right-hand corner of the webpage for the head and torso icon.

Click the head and torso icon and select 'More Settings'.

A list of items will appear on the left side.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list.

There you'll see the link for 'Desktop apps' under the AccountSafe menu

Click to activate your account.

You should be able to connect after that. If you still have trouble, you may need to perform one more verification steps. To do so, follow these steps:

Log on to Chase's site.

Go to your Secure Message Inbox.

You should have a message asking you to confirm your connection. Click the link to confirm.
