For everyone saying this is NOT a Moneydance issue but a USAA issue, you are dead wrong. Be mad, thats fine but you are.

USAA changed the connect, fine its done.

They are not bringing the old way back no matter how much people complain. Our complaints are insignificant to their business bottom line and even if 1/10th of al the customers left, they would stay in business so leaving USAA over this is just asinine.

This is now an IK issue. Its proof that they need to fix it because other companies have fixed theirs. As I posted before, GNU cash now works.

Keep in mind, you are not dealing with a one off guy in a basement writing code. You are dealing with a company that accepts funds for producing an app and service connection. By creating the app and offering the service the company took responsibility to maintain these connections etc.

They either need to fix it, or publicly announce they will not support USAA one or the other. As a company that you have PAID money to for the software pressure should be placed on them to produce.

Put it this way.....

Your grocery store 1 mile away no longer has bananas because the way the banana distributor does business changed. The grocery store 15 miles away was able to figure it out and get bananas.

Now do you go yell at the banana man for changing his ways ands tell him you are never buying his bananas ever again or the store for not figuring out how to get bananas?

TJtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-18T18:23:47Z2021-02-18T18:24:37ZCan't download USAA transactions

@TJ - So... why can't USAA simply make an OFX export file an option??? If you pay attention to your USAA website, you will also see they heavily promote TurboTax too. Sure looks suspicious to me!

And, unfortunately, you are correct about leaving USAA, however, it is a very strong option, but a total PITA for all the bill pay data I have there... :(

mgphl52tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-18T19:11:21Z2021-02-18T19:11:21ZCan't download USAA transactions

I am also a long-time USAA customer and switched to Moneydance years ago after Quicken dropped meaningful support for the Mac. This is really frustrating and I hope we see a resolution soon.

I did find this link - https://df3cx-services.1fsapi.com/casm/usaa/enroll - in the Quicken community forums. This is the page Quicken users are sent to to get a dedicated ID and pin for the USAA Direct Connect access. Interestingly the ID and pin that are generated for me do seem to work in Moneydance, but just the same as our current login/pin, meaning it seems to connect successfully but no transactions are ever downloaded.

Since others have reported that 3rd-party software other than Quicken is working again it seems Moneydance may need to adapt to changes USAA has made. Or maybe those other programs are impersonating Quicken so that USAA doesn't block them?

BTW, the Quicken community forums seem to also be awash in complaints and issues with connecting to USAA for the past couple months as well. I am looking forward to Infinite Kind figuring this out because I know the support and performance will outclass Quicken once again when it's figured out.

Last thought, has anyone switched Checking over to Schwab from USAA (in addition to the investments)? How does Schwab work with Moneydance?

joetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-18T19:22:20Z2021-02-18T19:22:20ZCan't download USAA transactions

All of the Quicken folks are also talking about needing to change to a "USAA - new" connection, as if the Direct Connect server information has changed.
Does anyone know the current OFX server details for USAA so that we can try adding manually through the Moneydance:Online Banking Signup:New Connection:Advanced Setup option then use the USAA Direct Connect ID/pin provided at https://df3cx-services.1fsapi.com/casm/usaa/enroll ?

joetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-18T19:36:46Z2021-02-18T19:36:46ZCan't download USAA transactions

FYI, here's Moneywell's statement on the matter - https://help.moneywell.app/article/73-usaa-direct-connect

Just setting those values won't be sufficient.
There are values more than just those 4 that need to be configured/override. In particular a clientUid needed to be set.

She said that USAA has changed their direct connect method, and they have chosen Quicken only for compatibility. Yes, USAA required Quicken to create an access ID and PIN for each user of their software. To connect with Quicken, you have to contact USAA web support for them to walk you through the steps required for direct connect. I asked her if there were steps that Moneydance could take to make their software compatible, and she said NO, there is nothing Moneydance can do. USAA has decided to partner with Quicken, only.
Others who commented that USAA is not what it used to be, are right on target. USAA has chosen to partner with Quicken, and block other software from directly downloading account transactions.
Not going to drop USAA over it. Just have to muddle through exporting CSV and importing it into Moneydance from now on. NOT going back to Quicken.
Hope this helps to answer some of y'alls questions.

jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-20T18:07:00Z2021-02-20T18:07:00ZCan't download USAA transactions

@jim - Thank you for the update. Since I do not know all of the ins & outs of OFX protocol, I did not get transaction, but I did prove I could connect without Quicken!

mgphl52tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-20T18:12:21Z2021-02-20T18:12:24ZCan't download USAA transactions

Sigh . . . while I'm on board with removing outdated protocols and modernizing, USAA's new refusal to support non-Quicken products really sucks.
in case someone didn't see it. Of note, he mentions USAA dropped OFX support, which seems to imply that Moneydance are waiting for USAA to fix the issue. Even though there are several other programs that work great with USAA imports (I'm personally using Personal Capital and someone else mentioned Fidelity worked as well as Quicken and GNUCash). So it's not that USAA dropped third party support, they just dropped this particular channel. Which may have been a security concern for them and Moneydance have to change up their connection mechanism if they want USAA to work for their customers.

IK has said they're "working on it," but I'm concerned working on it is waiting for USAA to reinstate the previous connection, which seems unlikely. It also appeared several other users took it upon themselves to make it work with the new method using Moneydance's extensibility. Personally, I've just been doing things manually, but I might be switching to Personal Capital full time as they've been pretty solid for what I want. There are some significant limitations there that I have grown accustomed to in Moneydance, so I do hope InfiniteKind get this resolved, but I have my doubts it'll be anytime soon.

doug browntag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-21T03:31:17Z2021-02-21T03:31:17ZCan't download USAA transactions

There are many things happening, some in different directions.

CSV import works within moneydance, with the right criteria. (I posted those criteria a while back in this uber long thread and can probably dig it up).

OFX import works with hleofxquotes tool (in another thread). That's what I'm currently using.

Reverse engineering the issue is happening, but MD needs to make some changes to make this work. Sean stated he is working on this directly to me (as I gave permission to use my computer to test).

I, and Stuart (toolbox guy), and someone who has made this work outside moneydance have been working to reverse engineer MD as well.

So, things are definitely happening, day by day.

Just as I was extremely disappointed in USAA for the January 26 fiasco, and still am due to lack of information or willingness to help out their clients ---

I wish MD would post weekly updates. So, I guess I'm writing a "just a user" update instead. (Not my job! :) :) :) )

Things are happening. You can download and import CSV at this time, or use hleofxquotes tool to create and import OFX - both work. So, you don't have to sit and wait if you are a bit technically savvy. But no it isn't dirt simple yet.

JUST A USER
Hope this helps.

dtdtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489989742021-02-21T07:57:21Z2021-02-21T07:57:21ZCan't download USAA transactions

A quick update... dtd and I (using the technical info provided by hleofxquotes) tonight successfully edited the Moneydance profile setup and then successfully downloaded both Checking and Credit Card Txns from usaa using Moneydance.
