OFX Connection with Navy Federal Credit Union
Currently, MoneyDance does not allow connection with Navy Federal Credit Union. When I contacted "Support@InfiniteKind" I was told that "NFCU does not support direct connection....". However, independently contacted NFCU and they replied "We do allow Direct Connect OFX, however we are unable to provide that information over eMessage. This information is only provided to third-party application developers looking to develop apps that access Navy Federal Credit Union information. We regret the inconvenience this has caused. If MoneyDance is looking to support Navy Federal Credit Union, please have a MoneyDance representative reach out to us." Are there other NFCU users that would like to use the online capability of MoneyDance?

@All Thanks for sharing your interest in having Navy Federal Credit Union added for automatic downloads via Direct Connect. I've filed a ticket in our ticketing system and the connection specialist is currently looking into it.
If you have any useful contact information for Navy Federal Credit Union, please let us know as this might help speeding the process up .
Thank you

Thanks Mandy. I also hope IK is able to add NFCU to Moneydance. Lots of us are looking to leave USAA if you can’t fix your direct connection with them.

@Kelly Our ultimate goal is to achieve both, adding the connect to Navy Federal Credit Union and hopefully find a solution for re-establishing a connection with USAA. However, we would really appreciate if these two topics could be kept separate, as this particular thread is dedicated to Navy Federal Credit Union .
Thank you for you co-operation

Yes, would appreciate the options to download transactions from NFCU.

OFX connections are the biggest reason people tell me they don't want to use MoneyDance. More specifically, "I don't want to have to download and import"
If you can bring navy federal CU I would be ecstatic...

I would love to use the online banking function with my Navy Federal account too.

I too would love automatic downloads via Direct Connect for NFCU.

Is there any update on the status of this? When this connection might be working?

Looking to open a Navy Federal account but want the ability to download. Please make this happen soon!

Came back to check on status. Are there any updates? Do we all need to contact Navy Federal personally and beg or something? Whose butt do i need kiss for this to happen?

Suggestion - tell NFCU that you have quicken and want to direct connect? You might get pertinent info on how to do so, and then MD or others might be able to use that information to do the same.

just a user
As Stuart and I have fixed/documented the USAA profile and the NCSECU profile, we looked at NFCU yesterday.
Appears that Quicken isn't working with NFCU (as of Deember 2020) and the 2FA issue is stopping Quicken from working with them.
Given Quicken isn't even working with NFCU (as of Dec 2020), we decided to not pursue the issue. Don't know what IK is doing....

My Fidelity account utilizes MFA but doesn't have a problem whem i'm downloading from them. I don't see how MFA would be a sticking point for anyone in this year of 2021.

I think NFCU has a FI ID of 14545. I think it might be WEB-CONNECT. But I have Eno other details. does anyone have any settings we can play with (perhaps from Quicken)? I also think it's 2FA? Are there 'Quicken' authentication screen(s) when you log into the bank?
(not support, just a fellow user)

I'd like to see MoneyDance connect to NFCU as well. I left USAA Banking a couple years ago--but it seems USAA has decided to only support Quicken. I just moved all my records from Quicken to MoneyDance and have to say that I like it. Works very well with my mutual funds.

@All
As you might be aware Moneydance only supports automatic downloads using Direct Connect, and unfortunately Navy Federal Credit Union do not support this connection method.
After several attempts on our end, we regret to confirm that they use other connection methods that Moneydance does not support, called Web Connect and Express Web Connect.
If they begin to support Direct Connect at any point, we'd be happy to establish a connection with them.
By only using Direct Connect, we can guarantee that your username, password and financial data only ever exists with your bank or on your own personal computer, and at no point are your details stored on another server.
You can read more about why we only support this connection type in our blog and also in this article.
Without Direct Connect, you are still able to easily import your data into the program. The best way to get your transactions into Moneydance is to use a web browser to download files from your bank's web site.
We'd recommend you download using the OFX or QFX file format if available. If not, use the QIF file format. (These files are sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files). You can import the files to Moneydance using File --> Import.
The steps for manually importing your data are outlined in this article from the Knowledge Base.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
