I can no longer download transactions from my Ameriprise account. It works flawlessly until sometime last week.
The following is the error message that I get:
There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

Bank Name: Ameriprise Brokerage 133 Direct
Account: AMERIPRISE (RRRRRRR)
Account Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx

A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server.
Error Description: java.io.IOException: HTTP Error:403 Forbidden

I have tried to disable and reconnect the account. I have tried to connect a newly created account. Nothing appears to work.

    Hi,
We have tried contacting Ameriprise customer support last week and we are still awaiting their response.

For the time being, you can update your accounts by downloading a file from your banks website. We'd recommend you download using the OFX, QFX, or QIF file format. CSV files can also be imported - the steps are outlined in this article from the knowledge base.

Thank you for your patience while we are working on a permanent solution.

Unfortunately Ameriprise doesn't give the option to download anything other than CSV files, so no OFX. I found a post from Henry with Infinite Kind (Aug 18, 2017 Importing Monthly Investment Transactions in CVS Files) saying "...Moneydance doesn't support importing CSV files into investment accounts...because of the complexity and the variety of investment transactions." I've used CSV import in the past and had to do so much manual correction that it was almost faster just to manually enter, so I was very happy until early Nov. that the online download worked.
Understandably Ameriprise needed to secure the interface once it was hacked. I also understand the focus is now on Plus at IK, but with my modest needs I can't justify an ongoing expense.
There are available tools to convert text files like CSV to OFX. Do you have a documented standard for the structure of an OFX file that would successfully import into an investment account?

Any progress on fixing this issue. Have you tried to contact Ameriprise again to get MD authorized to connect with their data?

An occasional update would be nice.

If you are not going to fix the problem, say so.

We've recently released Moneydance 2022.3 (4068) including a feature that will allow you to connect to investment accounts using Moneydance + now.
This version is now available to download from this page.

Please note Moneydance + is a premium service that requires:

    1) You own a license of Moneydance 2022

    2) a subscription ($2 monthly) - for further information please refer to this section of the Knowledge base.

Unfortunately, I am not able to find any information that confirms Ameriprise supports Plaid so Moneydance+ does not seem to be a solution to this issue.

Changing to plaid (or paid service ) is not a solution.

You might need to disable your current connection on the Online Banking Setup screen first, in order to stop the OFX method to take over Moneydance + and allow your transactions to download as expected . To remove the connection, open Moneydance, select your account, then choose Online > Set Up Online Banking and select the "Disable" button to remove the connection.

Then, in the Set Up Moneydance+ window, you'll need to click on the "None" label in order to select which account in Moneydance corresponds to the account names and numbers on the left side of the window. After doing that and selecting the Moneydance account from the menu, using the ⌘D keyboard shortcut or clicking the Download button when the account is selected will cause Moneydance to download the transactions for that account.

    Maddy,

There seems to be no OFX connection to disable. Setup Banking goes to the Moneydance+ screen. Vanguard, TD Ameritrade, and Employee Fiduciary accounts all seem to work fine.

I still receive the following error message for both of my Ameriprise accounts (comments in parenthesis are not part of the error message) :

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
    Bank Name: Moneydance+
Account: Ameriprise (Joint) (Moneydance account name)
Account Number: nnnnnnnn (actual number removed for this email.)

In the meantime, although you might have done this already, you should try removing and recreating the connection, one more time.
In order to achieve this navigate to Online menu->Moneydance+ Set up and where it reads "Connected" on the right, click and select disconnect in the popup. Restart Moneydance, then try to recreate the connection as outlined here.

Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

    Maddy,

I have attempted to disconnect and reconnect to Ameriprise several times. No joy. Moneydance+ says that it has successfully connected. In the online setup window it shows the Ameriprise connection and displays two sub-accounts that I then attach to the appropriate Moneydance accounts. When I attempt to download transactions I receive the same error message that I have previously sent you.

After the latest attempt, I used the Moneydance+ setup window to disconnect from Ameriprise. After refreshing, Ameriprise no longer appears in the setup window. However, the next time I started up Moneydance, it asked what time frame it should download transactions for each of the two Ameriprise sub-accounts in Moneydance. I chose all available and nothing appeared to happen, i.e. no error message, no transactions download. I believe the connection was terminated when I disconnected the Ameriprise account, but some remnant remained in Moneydance.

As I have indicated previously, this problem seems to be Ameriprise specific, I have successfully connected four other brokerage accounts with Moneydance+ and have no trouble downloading transactions from those accounts.

With 2022.2, Moneydance+ was able to download non-investment transactions via Plaid. After updating to 2022.3(4068), I'm getting the same error as others:

The error code reported by the server was: 0

    Error type: ITEM_ERROR
    Error code: NO_INVESTMENT_ACCOUNTS
    Request ID: wgH8ByoSux7a2nB
Message: There are no valid investment account(s) associated with this Item. See https://plaid.com/docs/api/#item-errors for more information.

I have unlinked and re-connected the Ameriprise account in Plaid and received the same error

Same as others in this thread have said: other investment institutions work fine (Schwab, for instance), but Ameriprise throws a "NO_INVESTMENT_ACCOUNTS" error. Tried several different accounts. Completely disconnected and reconnected. 2022.3 (4072).

Still getting errors from Ameriprise after Plaid says it is connected. Is anyone actually doing anything about this? If not say so and I will quit trying.

Your investment handling has always been sub-par, nowhere near enough transaction types for a real investment account. I will be looking for alternatives in the future,

We are really sorry to hear that the problem persists.
According to Plaid the latest successful connection with Ameriprise Financial was 13 hours ago.

Could you send us the contents of your console log, from when you're trying to connect to Ameriprise Financial via Moneydance+?

Here's how to get the logs:

    1) In Moneydance, select Help > Console Window. This will open the console messages window.
    2) While the Console Window is open, attempt to connect to your bank using Moneydance+. Any error messages should be recorded to the Console.
    3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the "Copy to Clipboard" button at the bottom to copy the text.
    4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file (preferably saved with a .txt extension) and attach that file to your response here.

The debugging logs that this produces may contain your account information. So just to be safe you can redact any account info in the debug logs. Just replace it with something like "ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE" and it will be fine.

To add an attachment to this thread, you should click on "Browse".

    Thank you

    Hi Cameron,

Although the development team is considering implementing a way of seeing all the banks supported by Moneydance+ via Plaid without signing up to the free 14-day trial, for the time being this is the only option.
Using the 14-day trial you can create a free account at: https://my.plaid.com by clicking GET STARTED at that link. This Plaid account has nothing to do with Moneydance, but it enables you to see the banks supported by Plaid. As part of creating a Plaid account you provide a phone number so that when you sign into Plaid it can use two step verification.
Once signed into your Plaid account you can then click the link to Add an Account.
You get the same screen as if you were in Moneydance+ and you can check the list to see if your Banks are supported.
