Would uninstalling and reinstalling the program help resolve md+ connection issues?

Highly unlikely, connection information is kept with the data not with the software. I would suggest you outline the problem so that recommendations can be made of a path to follow.

I have had problems connecting to Fidelity with moneydance+/plaid for a several days now. Almost never works. The error is:
There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank Name: Moneydance+
Account: Fidelity
Account Number:
The error code reported by the server was: 0
Error type: INSTITUTION_ERROR
Error code: INSTITUTION_NOT_RESPONDING
Item ID: wMRaaqKNQXugyXj1owxoswDok9MKx6HL6xMQz
Request ID: eNF5I45Gb7bSZAS
Message: This financial institution is not currently responding to requests. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Seems like something Plaid will have to solve.

Hi DTS,
I am a Fidelity Investments client. I can't speak to all of the various Fidelity connections, but 'Fidelity Investments' does not require Moneydance+ / Plaid so as to download & import your data.
Fidelity Investments supports direct-connect to Moneydance.

I am glad the OFX still works for Fidelity. When setting things up I was able to use moneydance+ to connect to Fidelity and it was able to retrieve my accounts. Once connected those accounts were never able to download via moneydance+. I will disconnect the accounts from moneydance+ and reconnect via the "banking" OFX route.

I have a similar issue with Fidelity. The OFX connection does not provide access to the Visa credit card. Using Moneydance+, I can connect to the VIsa card via Plaid and link it to a credit card account in Moneydance. However, retrieving transactions fails with the following error:
Error type: ITEM_ERROR
Error code: PRODUCT_NOT_READY
Item ID: eQ9XgdXgBRIMaqV7EVB7c4kk7wvN1YHx54weY
Request ID: PpGPZw8XqiWVY7W
Message: the requested product is not yet ready. please provide a webhook or try the request again later
I am using OFX and Moneydance+ for a variety of other accounts, no issues observed with those.

Interesting to hear that others are having very similar issues. Setting up OFX access to Fidelity is fairly complicated - will wait and see, hopefully Plaid can make this work

I use OFX to download data from Fidelity, three different account types (401(k), 529, and brokerage.). All stopped downloading around a week ago (~22Dec.)
The error I receive is slightly different:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.
Bank Name: Fidelity NetBenefits
Account: XXX401(k)
Account Number: 12345
A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server.
Error Description: java.io.IOException: Unable to tunnel through ofxp.infinitekind.com:80. Proxy returns "HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request"

Apparently, it's Fidelity, not Moneydance. Quicken users are also having issues.

Per the Fidelity website;
What you need to know about third-party websites and apps
We’re always enhancing how we safeguard your data. As such, we wanted you to know about new security protocols we’re implementing to continue to keep your information secure whenever you link your Fidelity accounts with outside websites and apps, and provide them with your Fidelity login information. Examples of these sites include:
Money management websites and apps that let you see all your accounts from multiple providers (sometimes known as “data aggregators”).
Budgeting apps and banks that import your spending and saving information from your Fidelity accounts.
Person-to-person payment apps that link to your Fidelity account.
While these sites may make accessing your information more convenient, they use the Fidelity username and password you provided to them, which means they have the same access to your data that you do. This makes it difficult for you to control what they see and do with your account information.
How is Fidelity helping to protect your data?
We are implementing new security protocols to add another layer of protection to your accounts. As we complete this transition, when using some third-party websites and apps, you may experience a temporary interruption on those external sites. You will still be able to access all of your account information and activity directly on Fidelity.com or the Fidelity mobile app.

just a user
As I've seen from cytoc above, others in other threads, and also at Quicken (they are not immune either) - it appears Fidelity is changing things around, not informing users (as no other banks seem to do so, either), and just letting things not work while their I/T department blithely changes things around.
I've also heard they are changing their "third part permissions" bit for client accounts, which would kill things as well.

then what's the value of Moneydance if I can't download my data?
13 Posted by dtd on 27 Jan, 2023 11:30 PM
just a user - what's the value of ANY financial program if Fidelity refuses to provide your data. Even Quicken is having issues.
I think you might want to re-frame the question as "What's the value of Fidelity if they won't provide my own data to me via a financial program?"

It appears that Fidelity has fixed the issue, I was able to download all my transactions back to mid-December when the problem started. I hope everyone else has also had their access restored.
Until today, I was in agreement with @dtd and questioning whether I should take what funds I control to a different financial firm. (I have a 401k that I can't move until I retire.)
Now, I just have the issue that Fidelity doesn't offer an easy way to download historical prices of their funds.

HI Dudley,
Thanks for the update ! I can download my fidelity accounts EXCEPT for one of my investment accounts which still gives me an error. Appreciate the involvement of everyone and the support staff here. Hopefully the remaining fidelity issue (and Penfed, which I still cannot connect to) will be resolved at some point....

depending on the error message, you might want to disconnect that ONE account, and reconnect it. Just a thought, as I don't know what error you are receiving for that account.
