Hi All,

I am curious if there is a way for financial software to download check images?

I do not know if any financial software Moneydance or anyone else can do this?

I don't think it is part of the OFX standard because of this information:
http://www.ofx.net/AboutOFX/ServicesSupported.aspx

It seems OFX doesn't support download of check images but I did not read all of the information thoroughly and am certainly not an expert in banking protocol.

However, sometimes industries have non-standard extensions that become "defacto-standards". If the ability to download check images is not part of the "OFX standard proper", is there a "defacto-standard" (or two) that do allow the check images to be downloaded?

Currently, this is a manual secondary process for me (and many, many others).

Regards,
Jim

    I just realized that I missed this on the OFX protocol page.

    //----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    http://www.ofx.net/AboutOFX/ServicesSupported.aspx

    "Banking (including bank, credit card, loan and amortization statement download, ****IMAGE DOWNLOAD***, transfers, and e-mail)"

    //----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    So, the OFX standard DOES support image download.

    I looked at the user's guide for MD and I can see the ability attach images once they are on the hard drive. But, what would be awesome is if MD could download the check images as part of its download (sync) to the banking website (database).

    Is there a possibility that this will be added in the near future?

    Regards,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,

    Since it looks like this functionality isn't built into the OFX specification, then it's unlikely that this will be implemented any time soon.

    I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks for the reply. However, did you see my additional comments posted at 2:26 PM, EST, USA?

    It turns out that the image download is part of the OFX standard. At least that is what the second bullet item indicates at,

    http://www.ofx.net/AboutOFX/ServicesSupported.aspx

    So, it seems that it is part of the standard. And, if that is the case, then is there a possibility to add it?

    Regards,
    Jim

    Hi Jim

    You are quite right it does look like this is supported by the spec. I have attached a suggestion ticket.

    Thanks for letting us know about this.
