Reports not working. Have Moneydance 2024.

   You will need to provide a bit more information. What is not working exactly? Some screen shots of your report settings would be helpful too. i am sure someone here will be able to help once the problem has been identified.

   Hi Janet

   For support or others to help could you post the version/build of Moneydance you are running. e.g. 2024.1(5118)

   Also click on the EDIT button in your screen shot and post a screen shot of that so we can see the details of the report you are trying to generate. Perhaps the setting are not set up correctly.

   On Windows 11 Moneydance 2024.1(5120) the Portfolio report is working for me.

   Hi Janet

   From the screen shot none of the Investment Accounts/Securities seem to be selected. None of the boxes ticked. I cant see all the list from the screen shot but is it possible nothing has been selected so there is nothing for the report to work on.

   Here's another screen shot showing accounts/securities. selected. I also tried to change the date and the program will not let me do that.

   Hi Janet

   When you click in the date box a calendar should appear to allow you to set the date.
   Try clicking the RESET button and select your Securities and Date again.

   I am having the same problem. Stuck on “generating” screen. I have tried different reports, changed dates, used “reset”button, etc.

   Nothing seems to advance me to a generated report. I have never had a problem in previous versions.

   Using latest Moneydance version on Mac OS Sonoma

   I cant reproduce the problem on Windows 11 Moneydance 2024.1(5118).
   I don’t have a Mac so the only thing I can suggest is after a report fails to generate you close Moneydance and find the Moneydance file error.log and post that. It may provide some indication of what’s going on.

    Thanks for responding. Where do I find the file error log?

    I was able to work around it by restarting program with an older version just to generate reports. Then I went back to new version to log my transactions.

    I am not a Mac user so I don’t know the current location were the error.log file is located.
    If you can’t find it yourself maybe a Mac user could help.
    Instead after a failure to generate a report and before closing Moneydance if you can click HELP – CONSOLE WINDOW and then SAVE to create a file and post that, it may help.

    On a Mac, the error log should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:

    macOS Big Sur and later:
    ~/Library/Containers/Moneydance/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

    macOS X Lion until macOS X Catalina:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

    macOS X Snow Leopard and earlier:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

    If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder you can open Finder and hold down the option key while selecting the Go menu and the Library folder option should occur or you can open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and copy and paste in the following:

    ~/Library

    This should pull up your local Library folder.

    Some Moneydance files/folders on macOS are likely to be hidden, on macOS to show hidden files the key sequence CMD-SHIFT-DOT (that’s a period or ‘.’) will show them.

    I'm on a Macbook Pro, with Sonoma 14.4.1, and was able to pull up a Portfolio report for 3/31/2024 without an issue.

    So, yes, an errlog report, or even a window console might reveal some information.

    I am truly indebted to you all and appreciate anyone who can interpret error logs and guide me to solving this.

    For a full list of improvements in the preview version, please refer to this page.

    We recommend overwriting or manually removing the older version.

    This solved generating my portfolio report.  Now I don’t have to close and reopen in the previous version just to run the report.
