Transaction Register Sort Logic is a complete mess
I have asked for help on this previously and nothing has transpired that is useful. So forgive my bluntness here. I want to record transactions into Moneydance in the order they are shown in the related Banking transaction register (so even if the transaction falls on the same date as another transaction, I want MD to remember the order the transaction was entered in). Pedantic I know but this should not be difficult to achieve. I have used the context menu to 'set' the DATE order which used to work previously, but recently after every new transaction this is reset to DATE/AMOUNT.
This has occurred in a recent release, and according to Maddy was fixed in a subsequent release. But it isn't fixed.
Please don't model Quicken and start to ignore reported issues. You have a good product here, please support it so. Sorry for the Rant.

Does it work in 2024.1(5118)?
FYI - There is a settings not saving bug in 5119 onwards, which will be fixed in next alpha/preview.

Hi Stuart
Thanks for the response: I'm using Win 11 and MD 2024.2 (5159) so
completely up to date! If there is a way to test how it responds with
2024.1 (5118) you will have to let me know how to install and test
without impacting my database.
Question: What settings should I be using to achieve my requirements of
strict transaction entry sorting?
Kind Regards

Build 5118 is on the Stable download page.

Hi Stuart, I can confirm 5118 retains the Context selected Sort value of
DATE after each new transaction is entered, it also retains the selected
Sort value after closing and restarting. However, if you delete a
transaction the Context Sort selection changes to DATE/AMOUNT.

Hi Stuart
Hi Stuart and Team
This Register Sort Date issue seems to have crept back in since
upgrading to 2024.2 (5146) under Windows 11 (64 Bit). Can someone please
verify.
SHOULD I CREATE A NEW TICKET???

@David... Are you really sure? Are you using MD2024.2(4146) https://infinitekind.com/preview
The fix is still in place and I have just tested all sorts of changes to sorts/views and then restart and they all survive..
Can you confirm the version, and if you are certain it's still a problem, confirm exact steps to reproduce? Thanks

Hi Stuart
Sincere apologies. I'm now again using MD2024.2 (5146). I’ve had an
issue in the last few says where MD appeared not to be remembering
transactions I know for sure I had entered. On checking I found two
instances of MD installed, the stable 5118 and an earlier release
somewhere between 5118 and 5146. This release was being called from the
desktop short cut. God only knows how that short cut got corrupted.
Any-ways, I have cleaned up the rogue installs and now everything is
working fine.
I appreciate you are extremely busy and can do without this sort of
issue. So I can only apologise and thank you for looking into this.
Kind Regards
David Potter
