Unable to open datafile within Moneydance, but can from outside!

I have successfully installed Moneydance (2001) on my MacBook Air M2 2022. My data files are stored on a local server but when I try and open them within the app by using "Open other" I can see them but they are not highlighted and cannot be selected. If I select the file within Finder, Moneydance opens and displays the data just fine. 'Open other" works fine on my Mac mini (2014 with High Sierra). Not sure if this has anything to do with sandboxing or the move to Apple Silicon? I bought the app direct from IK originally and have downloaded the same version for this installation so had hoped everything would work identically.

What's the full name of the file you are trying to open, including the file extension at the end?

The file name is smb://isbillcloud/phil/Moneydance/Personal Finances.moneydance.

It's on a WD network server. I can open it from my Mac Mini using "open other" but my while my new MacBook Air can see the file, its greyed out and cannot be opened.

PS I've stored my data on a local network server for a couple of years and its worked fine. I can still access my data if I click directly on the file and allow Moneydance to open up. It's just that I can't do it from within the app.
