When adding a security in an account designated USD, the currency defaults to Canadian Dollar and does not allow changes in the drop down menu

The currency of a security is set in the security.

Adding the security to an account in a different currency will not change this. It will also not result in some sort of dynamic currency exchange rate calculations to be done.

When you add a security to an investment account it is creating a sub account for this security within that investment account. It is a Parent/child relationship in effect, and the two can be in different currencies.

There was a glitch. I am now able to change the currency on the security.

    Thanks
