Batch Change For Check #

I have version 2024.4 (5253). A previously closed thread said this was fixed. I am not getting it to do anything. I have followed the steps: Select, Right Click, Check #, input what I'd like it changed to, Click Ok, and then Enter. Nothing happens. Is there an issue with batch changing again? Thank you!

    I have tried using Batch Change on the Cheque # field on a few transactions and it is working as I would expect.
