Restore .moneydance/Documents from old offsite Deja Dup backup problem
I'm running weekly backups using Deja Dup on my ubuntu desktop and recently deleted (5/12) a moneydance account that I'd like to recover. My moneydance file is /home/briano/.moneydance/Documents/Brian & Connie Finances.moneydance
From Deja Dup I restore Brian & Connie Finances.moneydance from 4/1 backup set. When I open the restored file in Moneydance Version 2024.4 (5253) what is displayed is NOT the 4/1 version but the most recent version of Brian & Connie Finances.moneydance.
Perhaps the most recent data is cached and overriding my restored file? Should I restore all of .moneydance and instead of just the file in ./Documents?
See attached date/time stamps of file data after the restore showing 4/1.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Moneydance creates an automatic backup file each time you close your file, until the set number exist, then each file will be updated in turn.
When these files are stored in the default location, they're accessible from Moneydance via Help --> Show Backup Folder.
Also, you can choose Moneydance --> Preferences, then select the 'Backups' tab, as outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base .
Finally, the files with a - .moneydancearchive file extension can be restored into Moneydance by double clicking them.
Alternatively, choose File --> Restore from Backup (or 'Import New Account Set' from the Welcome window). Then navigate to and select the backup file.
When you restore data from a backup file, a new data file will be created for use going forward.
If the restored data file is in the default location, it's accessible from Moneydance via Help --> Show Documents Folder.
Any data files stored here are accessible from the program by choosing File --> Open. Any files you've created or restored will be listed here.
Additionally, if you'd like to re-name the restored file, you can follow the steps in this article of the Knowledge base.
It's important you close the Moneydance program fully before you make any changes.
Then rename the data file. You should retain the .moneydance file extension at the end of the file name.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
