Different Fiscal Year Ends Not working

I have 3 Moneydance files. One personal and 2 business.
Two have Jan 1 fiscal start and one has a July 1 fiscal start
When I change the Fiscal year start to Jul 1 on one file, it changes it to Jul 1 on the other 2 files.
When I change it back to Jan 1 for the other files, they all change to Jan 1.
I am using file / open to switch files.
Is this a bug or am I doing something incorrectly?
Thanks
Mike

    Well really it is neither.

It is a user setting not a per Account Set parameter hence it is working as expected. It is stored in the user configuration file config.dict

It sounds like you would like an enhancement where it becomes a per Account set parameter, it must be said though that Moneydance is not really targeted at business finance.

    Thanks.
I now understand that the preferences apply to all the files.
This makes perfect sense for most of the things there. A little less so
    for the Fiscal year start.
I thought I might have been doing something incorrectly.

I can easily manage the issue by changing the preferences, running any
reports I need and then changing the preferences back.
    Thanks for the clarification.
