Trouble restoring from backup with synced data corrupting it.
I have a primary Moneydance installation that was working really well for years with regular backups done. I made the mistake of opening up Moneydance on my old computer that I used to be my primary. The old computer synced (via iCloud) and corrupted the data of my primary installation. Silly of me.
I've tried restoring from a backup, and also restoring from Time Machine, but I have years worth of old automatic transactions appear after the restoration is complete. It seems to me that the restoration completes okay, but then the iCloud sync data comes in a messes it up.
I've tried turning off syncing before doing the restoration, but the information in the .moneydancearchive backup file re-enables it.
What can I do to properly restore my data set?

When restoring data from backup the restore should give you to option to keep the sync settings from the original file.
You should ensure that you do not do this. You want to create a new standalone independent data set.
You will have to recreate the syncing relationship and not use the syncing data that is there, you cannot overwrite this data or use this sync setup in any way.

Thank you so much @dwg!! Somehow I did not see that checkbox, I feel silly all over again lol.
I have done the restore without the sync settings and it looks good. That has saved me many hours of work. Thanks again :).
