Mac OS compatibility
I am running version 2022.6 on my Apple iMac which is running Mac OS Tahoe 26.4.1. I have started to get warnings from Mac OS that my version of Moneydance will not work with the next version of MacOS. Are you aware of this? Does the current version of Money Dance get over this future problem or should I wait until the next OS version has been released and check back with you again?
Thanks,
Chris

I'm assuming you have a Mac with Apple Silicon. Moneydance Version 2022.6 will work on your existing system because the system will have Rosetta installed and that version of Moneydance is an Intel Binary.
Moneydance 2023.2 was the first version to support Apple Silicon natively, so you should not have any problem using that version onwards on Apple Silicon

Thanks for your reply. Yes I am running a Mac with Apple silicone.
Your reply would suggest that Apple may be planning to drop Rosetta in the next version of OS hence the warning that my 2022.6 version of Moneydance will stop working then.
If I upgrade to the latest version of Moneydance and that proves to be incompatible with the next version of OS will you be offering a free upgrade?

I'm a fellow customer.
The message you are getting suggests Apple plans to discontinue Rosetta, this would appear to be confirmed by Apple's published information:
https://support.apple.com/en-au/102527
Apple have a habit of breaking applications with their macOS upgrades, no vendor can provide a guarantee that any version of their application will definitely work on a future O/S version. When you purchase Moneydance directly you receive the then current version and a free upgrades to the next major release, this is the limit to the offer.
If you are concerned about compatibility I would suggest you wait until you are going to upgrade then look at the Moneydance compatibility position, generally the current version at the time of the O/S version's introduction is the version that will look to be qualified and if any issues a found a new version released.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Software built specifically for Intel‑based Macs will eventually stop working on Macs that use Apple’s silicon chips.
This shouldn’t affect newer versions of Moneydance.
You can confirm this on your Mac: open Finder, go to your Applications folder, then right‑click (or Ctrl‑click) on Moneydance and choose Get Info. In the window that appears, check the Kind field — look at the text in brackets after “Application”.
The brackets will show one of the following: Apple silicon, Universal, or Intel.
Moneydance 2022 and later will show Universal, meaning it’s designed to run natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. These versions will continue to work when macOS 28 is released.
Only applications that show Intel in brackets will stop working on future macOS versions.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
