<p>Are you referring to the auto categorize function that it
activated when you download transactions or the auto complete
function that occurs when you are entering a new transaction
manually and you enter the description and tab to the next
field?</p>

<p>If you have the option "Automatically merge downloaded
transaction" under File->Preferences->Network turned on you
can turn this off.</p>
<p>Is it possible that you have the "little-used account" set as
the default category for the account you are downloading into? If
you select Account->Edit Account when you are in the account
register you can see which category is set as the default. If
Moneydance cannot match a transaction based on previous ones it
will use the default you specify in the account properties. Some
people find it useful to create a category called "uncategorised"
and set that as the default category.</p>
<p>Sincerely<br>

<p>You can add an "Uncategorised" category by selecting
Tools->Edit Categories. Click the plus (+) button to add a new
category.</p>

<p>If you are coming from MD2008 the transaction downloading is a
little different and may take some getting used to. Here is the
latest documentation:</p>
