I have back-ups going
to mobileme, and the most recent backup is named _moneydance
backup.md^. I took out the _ at the beginning and the ^ at the end,
which gave me the appropriate file icon. However, when I try to
open the file, I get the error "Error: java.lang.Exception:
Unexpected EOF reading data". That's hours and hours of lost work
since I just purchased Moneydance and was setting up files. Help,
please! TIA.</p></div>Christy tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/4385732009-10-09T00:48:46Z2009-10-09T00:48:46Zrestoring back up from mobileme<div><p>Hi Christy,</p>
<p>The files ending with ^ are the auto-save files that Moneydance
creates every few minutes. It sounds like the crash happened while
moneydance was in the process of saving that backup file. It seems
like the best bet is to either use one of the daily backups (that
should be named moneydancebackup.md-YYYYMMDD where YYYYMMDD are the
date that the backup was made. If that is too old, then the main
moneydance file (same name, but without the -YYYYMMDD) must be the
only option.</p>
<p>Would you be able to describe in a bit more detail what
Moneydance was doing when it froze? Was the main window completely
unresponsive? Did you have the spinning wheel icon whenever
Moneydance was the foreground application?</p>

would<br>
respond. I had to force quit. I ended up doing as you suggested
and<br>
used a slightly older backup and got most of my data back, so
I'm<br>
happily using the program again. Thanks! Christy</p>
