Can you confirm that you've followed the directions in the following Moneydance KB article?
http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/older-versions/md-2014-restoring-ba...

It sounds like you're trying to open a zipped version of the Moneydance program itself. There's no reason to do this more than once; all you'll do is create more copies of the program.

Where is your data backed up to? What is the full file name of the backup you are trying to restore?

Right, because that is the installation file for the program itself, not your data. Unless you were perhaps saving your data into a zip file that you called Moneydance? That seems unlikely given what you are currently trying. Can you clarify again your backup method, and what exactly you have been saving to this backup disc you mentioned?

The backup is stored on a USB key. It is called Lato Finances. When I click on it, I get a message that it can’t be opened because it is from an unknown developer. I then unlocked the security and hit the “open anyway” button but still get the same message.

Can you try running Moneydance, and using the open other option from the Moneydance welcome screen or the menu bar (File -> Open -> Open Other) to select your yourfilename.moneydance data set? I'm assuming that your "Lato Finances" is actually "Lato Finances.moneydance", but let me know if it has a different file extension.

1) Create a new account – when clicked asks me to Create a New File

2) Import new account – takes me to my applications list

3) Migrate from Quicken Essentials – also takes me to my applications list

4) Get help with using Moneydance - takes me to the “Start a Discussion” page which I used to start this discussion.

Do you use Teamviewer to log in to my screen?

There is a 'Open Other' option on the Welcome screen. (see screenshot)

Clicking on 'Open Other' will open a file browser allowing you can navigate to your data file.

Does it appear with any file extension at the end (.moneydance, .moneydancearchive, .md)?

I think you are using a Mac? If so, and you don't see the file extension, select the file in the Finder, and go to File -> Get Info from the menu bar to open the Get Info window for that file. There should be a field in this window that displays the file name plus the extension at the end.

We exchanged emails a couple of months ago about restoring my Moneydance data under my license after Moneydance was erased from my Mac

I was never able to get the data restored so I decided to just start again with new data from yesterday forward. Without realizing it, I opened Demo mode and it is now asking me for my license number which I can’t seem to find. Is it possible to send my license key so that I don’t have to buy a new license?

Thanks
Don

You can recover your license key by entering the email address that you used to register Moneydance in the Lost Key? field on the following page:

Hope this helps,

There were 4 cheques (withdrawals) listed which I was able to tick off. On the deposit side, the total of the two deposits was listed but the individual deposits were not listed and thus I was not able to tick them off to complete the reconciliation. Please advise.
