Intermittently (of course) I get a problem where I am searching for an entry and the first letter I type is highlighted in blue (see attached) and the next letters replace this one... Only a single letter is visible. Backspace, delete or other attempts don't help. Finally I tried clicking on the "X" and that fixes it!

I am not support staff, just a user.

    I don’t see that. I am running 2019.4(1892) on a windows 10 computer.
Perhaps you are running a different version/build or computer operating system?
Approximately what percentage of the time does it occur?

This might occur every few weeks. Really intermittent.

We’ll see what happens: I just downloaded the new Mac version which turned out to be 2019.3 (1880)

It may be that your keyboard 'insert' key - highlighted as Ins on the keyboard - is in the 'on' position. Press it once and see if that cures the problem.

That must be a Windows thing... only locking key my Mac has is Caps Lock.
