That is weird, the only thing I don't understand is that the category is in brackets as if it is the other side of the double entry transaction. Was the transaction entered in a different account and transferred to CA CMA:Money Market?

What happens if you look for transactions of category "Dividend"? This may be an issue for actual IK Support to figure out.
Sometimes takes awhile.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/479629272020-01-26T21:36:03Z2020-01-26T21:36:03Z"Transaction Filter"

I feel certain that no one is following this anymore so I'll say a few words for my own sense of what is going on.

I remember, when MD was new and I dared., to try something other than Quicken, to resolve a problems I would write to Sean and he would write back and in a matter of minutes the problem was solved. It was amazing and probably a big reason why I and others stuck with it.

Now, you go to a forum where other and usually very knowledgable users, try to answer your problem.

I've been told that some time a staff member will step in.

Well I'm disappointed because here I am answerless.

martin.alpertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/479629272020-01-26T21:54:58Z2020-01-26T21:54:58Z"Transaction Filter"

I can only suggest you write to Sean and complain about the lack of support.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/479629272020-01-27T13:58:43Z2020-01-27T13:58:55Z"Transaction Filter"

Martin, I feel your frustration. I can echo what Des said, but also note that any support from Intuit was very hard to get as well. I would think that IK needs a few more support folks and an additional developer!

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/479629272020-01-27T15:58:53Z2020-01-27T15:58:53Z"Transaction Filter"

I'm going to take a stab at this - understand that it's only an educated guess on my part.

The way that I understand it, Investment transactions are split between the Security and the Category.

Let's look at the 'Security' side of it.

In the case of Div transactions, no additional shares of the Security are purchased. Hence, $.0.00 is the reported amount of the transaction for the Security in question.

In the event of a DivReinvest transaction, new shares are purchased. Hence, the dollar amount of the purchase would be reported for Security in question.

The 'Category' side of it is much more straight forward since either type of transaction ('Div' or 'DivReinvest') can contain a user-defined income category that the Transactions Filter report could report on.

So, how does Martin get the Transactions Filter report to provide the Dividend income for his Money Market security?

Judging by the results of Martin's Transactions Filter report...

Martin has neglected to fill in the 'Description' field of the transactions. I think that this limits his ability to generate the desired results to only the use of his Dividend Income Category.

Fortunately, it appears that Martin has created an individual 'MONEY MARKET' Investment account. If this is accurate, Martin should try generating a report selecting his particular Dividend Income Category as the 'Account' parameter along with selecting the 'Subtotal By' Account parameter.

The report will, of course report on ALL Dividend income across all accounts but the Subtotal By Account parameter should cull out the MONEY MARKET account's Dividend Income.

@ Martin, let us know if the above suggestion provides the desired results. OK?

I have a very dim bell ringing about problems with these sort of transactions happening before, I call them combo transactions since they really combine two transactions into one, for example a DivReinv is really a dividend transaction and a buy transaction.

Alas the exact problem and resoultion is just not coming to me.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/479629272020-01-27T20:46:52Z2020-01-27T20:46:52Z"Transaction Filter"

My old age and a bad 13 month old ear infection is making me testy.
Also don't know what a Dividend Income Category is.

What Income Category are you using for the MONEY MARKET dividends when you enter / download them into the register?

I agree with forum member dwg that a screenshot of the MONEY MARKET register would provide some insight into what Income Category you are using.

The screenshot referenced is of the Transaction Filter report and it's corresponding parameters settings.

What may prove helpful is a screenshot of the MONEY MARKET register or a screenshot of any 'Div' type of transaction pertaining to MONEY MARKET security.

One sometimes has the more useful description of the security name itself. The problem is basically that accounts and categories are the same thing. You want things from the dividend category in a specific Money Market account. You can't specify both in the transaction filter dialog.

Instead of the Money Market account, you can ask for transactions in the dividend account but this may give you more transactions than you want.

sth
