    Hi McEvett

You don't state which extension you are using to update stock prices?

If you are running Moneydance 2019 or 2020 then:

There are two methods within Moneydance for obtaining security prices and exchange rates automatically.

The extension “Quote and Exchange Rate Updater” found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS. Check you are running the latest build v1024. For exchange rates use the source European Central Bank. Alpha Vantage covers the US as well as some securities outside the US, but is very, very slow. It’s my understanding that the source IEX Trading no longer works.

If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION

For information see post 38 at
    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4914-the...

Download the PDF attached to posts 38 and have a read.

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

If neither extension return prices post some example ticker symbols along with the security names and I can test.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I have the same problem. My last stock update was 23/6/20. Moneydance is set to update my stocks daily. I have the latest Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater. When I run the Download Quotes and Exchange Rates Now Extension, I get the following message at the bottom of my 'Stocks and Shares' window:
"Unable to get rate from to GBP". A couple share investment that now don't update are British Telecom (BT-A) or Tesco's (TSCO). Both on the London Stock Exchange.
    Any ideas ?
    Regards

    I'm a fellow user.

The Quotes and Exchange Rate extension along with its source AlphaVantage has been problematic for a while. With a progression of changes AlphaVantage has proven to not be the best of sources in my opinion.

I would suggest that you look at using Quote Loader as Derek outlined in post #1. This solution offers the choice of two sources and has a good feature set.

I have the same issue with European ETFs, the last update was on June 26th. It would be great to have a solution requiring a bit less manual effort than the add-on recommended in the first comment.

    Hi Ken and mp

As suggested have you both tried Quote Loader?

Ken as you have provided some ticker example, I tested them using Quote Loader. As you can see from screen shot, they both returned up to date prices. Test run before market opened in UK, thus prices are for close on the 29th.
Note I think the ticker for BT should be BT.A not BT-A

The extension Quote Loader can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION

    Hi Guys,
I deleted the 'Quotes and Exchange Rates Now' extension and installed 'Quote Loader'.
It was very simple to do, but made sure I read the pdf and watched the You Tube videos beforehand. All went well and I now use Quote Loader which runs much faster and seems very simple to use.
Thank you for all of your replies. Much appreciated.
    Regards. KJ

    Hi Ken

    Thanks for the feedback.
Really glad Quote Loader is working for you.

Good idea to subscribe to the main Quick Loader discussion, as recommended in the release note, so you don’t miss out when new builds are released.

    Hi Derek,
Quote Loader is indeed working, thank you.

If an official support member reads this - could you update the part about the securities prices in the knowledge base? The current setup listed there with Quotes and Exchange Rates add-on is not working

I've started using Quote Loader but when of my stocks is producing an incorrect price. Its National Grid and the ticker is NG.L although I understand .L isn't required. Price today should be £9.91 but i'm getting circa £7.24

Does anyone have any clue why?

    Thanks

    Hi Sheldon

Try changing NG to NG. under TOOLS – SECURITY - National Grid.
In Quote Loader select source FT or if you want history FT HD and you don’t need to set a exchange under Exch Mod.

Let me know if it works for you.

    Hope this helps.
