A BuyXfr transaction should purchase a security in the account it is in using the price/quantity information in the transaction but using funds from another account - often a bank account, sometimes another investment account.

If this is not happening can you describe what is happening. What does the transactions look like?

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485347752020-08-10T01:47:25Z2020-08-10T01:47:25ZBUYXFR not working properly

I just do not see the position in the portfolio I had 4 stocks I did the Buyxfr with. I sold one of the stocks and the sale went through using a sell and it is recorded in register. I changed the purchase to a buy and I transfer the monry from the other account using a xfr. Now everything balances out and the portfolio is now correct.

I had to use a Buyxfr to buy stock in the account due to the nature of thew transaction. Oddly when you Buy share using this feature the share are not added to the account portfolio they are bought in. In simple terms they are not recorded as part of the accounts portfolio. Not having the ability to transfer stocks directly between accounts creates a messy trail.

I put in the stock to the portfolio register so I could buy it in the account. bought the shares by selecting Buyxfr. Next I selected the stock name. then I added the the stock name and price. After that I completed the transaction. As I have never had the need to to use Buy X fr before I checked to see if it went into the portfolio. No sign of any of the 4 Buyxfr transactions I had completed. I changed the Buyxfr to buy for each of the 4 transactions and went into portfolio view and found all 4 buys in the portfolio.. I had to do an xfr transactions into the account to cover the cost of the four buys. What good is a Buy xfr that does not record the transaction into the account portfolio?

rsmerrintag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485347752020-08-12T23:24:02Z2020-08-12T23:24:02ZBUYXFR not working properly

What is the point of reporting a problem when Moneydance does not respond to it.

rsmerrintag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485347752020-08-12T23:32:29Z2020-08-12T23:32:29ZBUYXFR not working properly

Are you reporting the same account as the category/account as you are purchasing in? What is in the Category/Account that the transfer is coming from? There is no reason you have to use a BUYXFR function instead of two separate transactions of a transfer and a buy. Sometimes they download that way sometimes not. I have one institution that always lists a divreinvest as div. I change it manually and go on.

Can you show a screen shot of the BuyXfr transaction you are having issues with?

sth
