Summary Page - Enhanced Credit Cards List - App Freeze
Greetings. This has happened with Moneydance 2020 and also the latest MoneyDance 2021. Clicking current balance column header in the credit card list (to change to "Balance" mode) causes the app to hang and be completely unresponsive such that the application has to be terminated with task manager. The list otherwise works - collapsing the block, or changing from viewing the credit limit to the available credit, but as soon as I click the rightmost column heading for current balance the UI freezes. Task manager shows the process is sitting basically idle, not processing. I've given it time to see if it comes back but it doesn't.
Thoughts?

I've not used that feature, but checked it out and it freezes the MD application as you indicated. I'm using MD 2021 build 2007 on Windows 10 64 bit.

Would it be possible to get a screenshot of this happening? I haven't been able to get that to happen. After this happens can you also see if there is anything in the "errlog.txt" file that should be in the ".moneydance" folder? Attaching that file to this conversation would be very helpful.

Alas I don't think any screen shot or log I can provide would help. I have the console window open I click on the current balance heading to get the window open where you can select what balance to display and this is it Moneydance is locked hard. I cannot click on anything in MD, cannot shut it down. There is nothing in the Console log and nothing in the error log. My only option it to terminate the software.
This behaviour has been the same over the lest few major releases.

The screenshot would look the same as the normal window - clicking what should be the dropdown provides zero visual feedback and the interface stops responding completely.
I've attached a redacted version of the error log to. Everything up to the 'Uncaught' line at the bottom was during normal functioning of app. I believe 'Uncaught' et al were generated when I terminated the task from task manager. Hope it helps.
By the way, I was able to reproduce this starting a new file. 1) file->new, 2) add new account (credit card, default values), 3) click column header from original bug report to reproduce. Note that Moneydance itself does still use my extensions even with new file, so maybe if it's not happening on the upstream build it has something to do with an extension?

I've upgraded to build 2008 and tried the extension again.
At the bottom of the log is this:

This was not in the console log, which stops at the version check line which is when I clicked on the header in the extension.

Not that it probably makes the slightest difference....
But I couldn't help but notice that you have at least 6 outdated extension installed.
I've tried to simulate the crash you describe but can't on several PC's

Try clicking on the double headed arrows in the headings, MD doesn't actually crash it just locks up.

Is the Enhanced Credit Card feature a part of one of the extensions?
I've noticed its not available on the 32 bit version.

Regarding extensions, everything I see in the extension list in the app was updated before doing that test. Not sure why the log shows outdated messages. Maybe there are old extensions that are installed and somehow orphaned / inactive?

mhoggie - I think you're onto something. I thought it was a native facility, but I wasn't sure. I moved my .moneydance folder to .moneydance-old and reopened the file. It is indeed coming from an extension called Debt Insights. The native credit card list is functioning as intended. Adding Debt Insights and scrolling to its Enhanced list exhibits the problem.
So, I guess this isn't a native MD issue! I am curious why this extension is failing though, and why it involves an attempt to load an image from a URL (as far as I can tell from the errlog.)

Yes, that's it. Enhanced Credit Card summary screen function is part of the "Debt Insight" extension. So looks like the author of that extension needs to tweak the code for the summary page.

That's one of the open source extensions, that we've taken over, so that's on me :)
I'll check it out and get that extension updated. Thanks for discovering this and helping us track this down!

Yep! To my chagrin, this froze everything.
Try clicking on the double headed arrows in the headings, MD doesn't actually crash it just locks up.

Ok, been about nine months. I don't think anything has been done here, would be nice if at least the fonts were fixed.

Ok, it has now been almost two years since Sean acknowledged that the Debt Insights extension (Enhanced Credit Cards) was MD/IK responsibility.
As a reminder:
fonts are wrong (this should be easy)
the extension freezes moneydance if you click on certain title fields
it appears at this time if you try to "manage" the extension, you simply get an open, blank window (on the mac), so you can't even change anything anymore on the mac.
I have this on my summary page and have had it there for almost three years. It would be nice if it were upgraded to be working properly again.
Any thoughts from MD/IK?

Using this thread to compile a list of issues for this, hoping for some activity on the extension. To add to my Sep 11, 2022 post, going to extensions, clicking on "Debt Insights" brings up a blank window with the title "Debt Manager"
When adding to summary page - you add "Enhanced Credit Cards" not "Debt Insights" - since I don't know what "Debt Insights" really does, this is slightly confusing (I didn't even know they were related initially)
If you have any other items to add to this list, please do so.

The Credit Limit item can work, and change, but (after four other picks) choosing "Next Payment" froze MD similar how to clicking the Balance item freezes MD. So the Credit Limit Item does need reviewing.

On later Moneydance releases I never got far enough to really give it a good test since it freezes so readily, once you start going into the setup menus.
I do know it works perfectly well on MD 2012.

Another item:
The title bar should probably match all the other summary title bars - instead of bold and black, should match the greyish colors of everything else.

The fixed, upgraded, and much enhanced Debt Insights extension (build 1000) is now ready and tested. It’s just awaiting IK to sign and upload.
