Lost all my accounts
I tried to set up a new account for 2021 and lost all my previous accounts, both income and expenses for 2014 through 2020. Can you help me retrieve them?

I'm a fellow user.
Did you use the File --> New menu command?
If so this creates a brand new empty data set and you be able to find and open the old by using the File --> Open menu command.

File--> Open menu did not help.

It may help if you can described how you tried to set up a new account.
it may give some clues to what has happened.

I used File --> Accounts --> New --> bank --> Then titled acct, input start date and clicked OK. Then all previous accounts disappeared.21

If you use the menu item Account --> New Account it should have no impact on your existing accounts (there is no menu path File --> Accounts) all it should do it create a new bank account among the others.
If you use the menu item Tools -->Accounts are all your accounts present in the list and with balances?

I went through tools to set up the new account and there is now NO evidence that I ever had any other accounts. Is it possible to retrieve them?

I have not worked out what has been done to create the problem.
Once data has been deleted out of a data set it has gone, it is then necessary to go and retrieve a backup and recover to some point in the past.
I would be searching the disk for folders with the extension .moneydance and files with the extension .moneydancearchive to see what data may be present.

I don't know how to search the disk or which disk to search. Could you be more specific as to what I am to do to look for extension.moneydance and files with the extension.moneydancearchive?

I suggest you install the latest preview version build 3034
... and then ....
Visit my site and download and install the toolbox extension:
https://yogi1967.github.io/MoneydancePythonScripts/
Then run the toolbox and select the search for my datasets button.
