<p>We're currently in the process of fixing a bug in Moneydance
which is causing problems authenticating with some banks. I'm not
sure if this is the problem here, but I suspect it might be. We
hope to have a new version released sometime today that you can
test to see if it it solves the connection error you are receiving.
I'll let you know when the update is available.</p>
<p>I'm sorry for the inconvenience!</p>

<p>We've released an update to Moneydance 2010 (build 738) that may
fix your connection to Commerce Bank. Would you be willing to
update and let me know if you still can't connect? You can download
the update form our website at <a href=

<p>Diane,</p>
<p>Since you're issue is with a different bank, would you be
willing to start a new thread with your question? This will make it
much easier to make sure everyone's questions are answered. In your
new case, please include what version of Moneydane and Java you are
using, as well as your operating system.</p>
<p>Thanks!</p>

It seems
this one has to do with the length of the name of the payee.</p>
<p>When I first attempted to send a payment to the already-existing
payee (imported as part of my Quicken data import), after entering
the transaction, I got this error:</p>
<p>I'm sorry, an error occured. The details of this error are
below.<br>
Error Description: java.lang.Exception: Server did not acknowledge
payment message.</p>
<p>I then attempted to delete / recreate the payee (the full name
of the payee is 37 chars), I got the error "The name you have
entered is invalid. Please try again.".</p>
<p>I re-entered the payee with a shorter name (I got here via the
online payment entry window, selecting "pay someone who is not on
the list"), and it accepted the name, but the payee wasn't added to
the payee selection list on the actual payment screen.</p>
<p>I recreated the payee from the "create payee" button of the
online payees again using an abbreviated name, and that time it
worked, and took the payment I entered.</p>
<p>If this is a name length problem, an error message with the
problem indicated would be very helpful.</p>
<p>Also, it seems there may be a bug in the "pay someone who is not
on the list" function since it didn't accept my payee using
that.</p>
<p>Finally, a question - is there a way to enter online payments
from the register, similar to Quicken (by selecting "send" instead
of check number)? Having this, and the prefilled fields from the
last payment, would be most helpful.</p>
<p>Thanks!</p></div>mwmdn3tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/8874832010-02-02T04:08:34Z2010-02-02T04:08:37ZMD 2010r2 (735) - Problem communicating with bank - Commerce Bank - MO, KS, IL<div><p>Jessica,<br>

<p>Thanks for your report about the payment errors you are
receiving. We've actually been struggling for a while with this bug
and have been having a hard time figuring out exactly what's wrong.
I'll pass your observations on to Sean. Hopefully, it'll be a guide
to a solution to this difficult bug.</p>
<p>MikeS,</p>
<p>Updating is as simple as installing the latest patch to
Moneydance. I always backup my files before updating, but that's
just a habit I've developed for all software in general. It's never
a bad idea to have more backups!</p>
<p>You shouldn't have any problems updating the trial version of
Moneydance. You can download the current release from our website.

<p>Most financial institutions will require you to enable your
accounts for application-based online banking. You can accomplish
this by asking your bank to set up your account for connections
from Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server
connection protocol as Quicken but your bank representative many
not know this and mistakenly believe that they do not support
Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the
following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on
my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with
Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect
Quicken to this service."</p>
<p>Once your account is activated with your bank, you should be
able to connect. Please let us know if that's not the case so that
we can do further troubleshooting.</p>
