Cannot import QFX file into Moneydance

When I go to File>Import and point to the QFX file I get the Account Number window but not an Import File window. When I click Open nothing happens. I bank at Capital One, which does not provide Direct Connect and is not listed in the Moneydance list of banks. To check the download I downloaded the same dates as a CSV file and it loaded properly into Excel.

    FWIW, have a Capital One CC and was just able to download transactions from their website into MD, using both QFX and OFX formats (2 separate date ranges - was behind in updating the account to MD!).

    Are you downloading from the Cap One website Directly into MD, or Saving the QFX file to your system & then opening it from MD? ("Import" sounds like the latter)

    Based on other responses (from Knowledgeable MD users!) I expect that your OS & MD Version might be requested. (Win 10 & MD 2021.2 here)

    Thank you. I use Win 10 fully updated. I just updated Moneydance to Ver
    2022 (4056) and got the same results as before, both with direct download
    and downloading to a file on my computer. I like Moneydance but I'll have
    to ask for a refund if this problem persists.

    i have .ofx or .qfx files to "open using moneydance", so when i download a file, rather than saving, it simply opens (and populates with transactions) moneydance automatically.

    I set Moneydance as the default app for QFX files, or at least I think I
    did. During my attempted downloads I set Moneydance as the app and checked
    the box to always open QFX files with Moneydance. How did you set QFX files
    to "open using Moneydance"?

    I am having a very similar problem. I downloaded a QFX file from my bank and can neither open it through file, import function nor can I drag and drop it as I have in the the past. I am running 2022(4056) on Mac OS 10.14.6. This was not a problem until I upgraded recently, but it may have started when I was on 2022(4055), there has been a couple of recent updates.

    Try window / show console. Keep open. Then import. Then look for error messages in that console?

    Console option was awesome. Turns out my bank sent me a bum QFX. Tried again and verified a good download from my bank and it worked like a charm.

    Thanks to both Stuart and Matt. I ran Console in Chrome and then opened
    Capital One and downloaded the QFX file. Console showed no issues related
    to the download, and Moneydance was again unable to import the download.

    I hope that Moneydance or a user can come up with a solution.

    I'm a fellow user.

    I would suggest you open the OFX file in a text edit to look at the contents and make sure there are transactions there

    Good suggestion. The transactions were there, and they showed up when I
    downloaded them as a CSV file and opened them in Excel. The download seems
    to be OK.

    Thanks for your questions. I got no error messages. I only have one bank
    account in Moneydance so far, so I'm sure it was the right account.

    So, there have have been some messages in console.. The clue will be in there..... You should see OFX related messages related to the import... What does it say it's doing?

    checking account page:

    No new issues came up after I downloaded the QFX file. Earlier I opened the
    QFX file in text and the transactions were all there.

    Below is the MD console just after I tried to download the file again. The
    key might be "skipping statement data because no destination account found.
    The only account I have in MD is Capital One checking. When I click on edit
    that account it shows "Home 2" as the parent account. My MD header is
    "Capital One - Home 2". When I start the download I'm asked to select an
    account and the only option is the last 4 digits of my Capital One account
    number. It looks like some confusion over where the download should go but
    I don't know how to fix it. Here is the console:

    We really need to see the file..

    Inside the file there will be a STMTTRNRS tag. Within that a STMTRS tag. The program is then looking for a BANKACCTFROM tag... If this is missing, you get the message..?

    I just opened the download file in WordPad. It lists headers and
    transaction date but no STMTTRNRS tag.

    Thanks to all of you who replied to help with my problem. After trying
    everything I requested a refund from Moneydance and will subscribe to
    Quicken. I don't like Quicken's new pricing at all but I do need to easily
    keep track of my bank account.
