Very slow to quit

It takes about 15 minutes to quit moneydance while it slowly produces a series of boxes such as "Unable to get rate from BGN to USD", going painfully through from every currency to USD. This only recently started happening.

    I did the shrink and backup worked !!! Thank you so much.

    There is still the mystery of Downloads and a new mystery of why MD is
    accessing icloud. I don't see anything obvious when I log into my iCloud
    account.

    But everything seems to be working fine anyway. !!

    Please can you rerun toolbox analyse button and send that output?

    Why do u think MD is accessing iCloud?

    Here is the latest analyze output.

    I turned off full disk access and unchecked MD in the iCloud access list.
    There were no ill effects. I think that at some point in the past I was
    syncing Desktop&Document Folders to iCloud, but I turned it off long ago.
    I don't remember why.

    Whilst we are on this. Your price history is the largest element of your dataset.

    Object: csnap 15,6316 items @ 38MB

    You can consider purging / thinning the old price history. Toolbox. Advanced mode. Currency/security menu. Price history thin/purge.

    Backup first.

    Not yet. I wanted to test everything for a few days. All OK

    Why thin prices? Doesn’t seem like saving 38MB is important. I did look at
    the utility and there was a scary READ THIS FIRST that I didn’t understand.
    It seemed easiest to just skip it. What would the benefit be?

    Stuart or whoever-

    I can't get moneydance to start at all. I get the Moneydance menu with
    "about" and "preferences", but that's all. I tried a variety of old
    backups, but nothing. Just hangs. I assume I should just be able to click
    on a xxx.moneydance.archive file

    Best best is to find your errlog.txt file and post that.

    But yes you also double click a xxx.moneydancearchive to restore.

    But I’m not sure it will work. Find the error log and post that first.

    Thanks as usual for your response.

    My Moneydance did start after a very long delay. As a last ditch effort I
    tried to start it, and when nothing happened I went out for a walk. When I
    returned it was up and looking normal, but I'm afraid to close it (i.e.
    "quit") now.

    I tried old moneydancearchive files with no different result. Also in
    desperation I gave Moneydance full disk access and access to iCloud since
    these things seemed to be an issue in the past, but that had no apparent
    effect.

    Anyway, I'm up for the moment, but I doubt that things are really OK.

    Here is the errlog.txt file for your consideration.

    There’s no error in the log. You do have loads of MD+ account connections. Can’t see anything wrong. What happens if you turn off wifi and restart MD?

    Thanks for checking the log. I do have a bunch of MD+ connections. I’m
    afraid to restart MD just now as I need to use it a bit today and it may
    not restart, but I’ll try it later and let you know.

    Mysteriously, the startup problem has gone away by itself. However the old
    problem of not being able to do backups has returned. If I do a backup MD
    hangs and I have to force quit. I can live without MD backups since I have
    multiple archived backup systems (Time Machine and BackBlaze), but it's
    distressing and might indicate some problem that will rear its head
    eventually.
