Hi
I don't remember the font size in upcoming reminders being a smaller than the font size used on the rest of the page? Any ideas, it only just seems to have happened for no particular reason.
I am on Big Sur latest and MD 2022.1
Cheers..

I have noticed on the summary page that there appears to be some differences in the fonts between the various widgets

My view is that there should be more consistency with the fonts, and they should be identical in all widgets, but hey what would I know.

Can you send a screenshot so we can see which value(s) are different?

    header label uses fonts.header
    due uses fonts.defaultText
    upcomingLabel uses fonts.defaultText
    upcomingPeriodLabel uses .defaultText

totalUpcomingLabel (the values) NOT EXPLICITLY SET (so probably font.defaultText)

    The details rows..:
    date and values uses .mono
I presume the description uses font.defaultText (as not set)

Are those values in the customise settings preferences?

All fonts are derived from Preferences..
    - Font (default) - Numeric (mono) - Size (Header will be default, but larger)

Not in the slightest? Toolbox didn't produce that file did it?
Anyway, you have sent colours, not fonts..?

Sorry for being dim but I did use Toolbox to produce that file, or thought I did? It says toolbox_output. Cant seem to find anywhere a listing as per your post no.4 in order to take a screen shot. Can you point me in the right direction?
    Cheers…

I think that was from a script I gave you to list custom colours a while ago (but I never heard back 😉 ).

All I was asking was a screen shot of your Home Screen showing the ‘wrong’ font size?

    tonyt's Avatar

I ran Toolbox / General Menu / View MD Custom Theme File to get the above. Your script was received, still working on my own Dark Theme, still a way to go!
As for font sizes, my initial post above shows an Account on the left and an Upcoming Reminder on the left of the home page which shows the different font sizes. Do you need anything else?

Can anyone in support help? What if I rename.configdict? Might that help? I really would like to get this sorted as some of the text is so small it is hard to read. Ot seems to happen in multiple places within the app.

Can you try upgrading to the latest preview version, as this should hopefully fix the problem for you?
Moneydance 2022.3 (4063) is now available to download from this page.

Please keep us posted on your progress, Thank you!

    Hi Maddy
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Unfortunately this is an ageing post. Since I started it I have already updated to the latest preview as you suggested and the problem still persists.
    Any other thoughts appreciated.

Here is another example - compare text size in Saved Data window with date field. Also the header text in upcoming reminders compared to the size of the reminder details.

    Hi Tony,

The font for each row in the reminders section uses the "Numeric Font" from your preferences. Could you send a screenshot of the Appearance section of your Preferences window? Different fonts have different metrics, so even though the numeric font might be at the same size (say 12 pts) as the default font, it might appear smaller depending upon the font.

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi Sean
Thanks for getting back to me. Attached as requested plus a reconciliation window compared to register text for size comparison. As I said, it happens in many places throughout the app, not just in up coming reminders window on home page.
    Hope this helps?

FYI - 'Times' font was removed/discontinued by Apple recently. What happens if you use 'default'?

Also, can you post your console log too (as attached txt file)?

    tonyt's Avatar

    Hi Stuart
Attached is the console log with the Times settings I was using. Since then I have reset to default and that seems to have sorted the problem. However,
If I choose Helvetica or Helvetica Neue, with Font Size +8, I still seem to get the small text in reminders and reconciliation windows amongst others.

    You said this:

‘…with the Times settings I was using. Since then I have reset to default and that seems to have sorted the problem’.

So on the default, you are saying it’s ok? If so, leave it on default.

There are no other fixes that I can help with. IK would have to change/fix their code…

    Hi Tony,

In addition to what Stuart said, I actually don't think there's anything we could fix in our code to address this. Different fonts have different properties, and in this case it seems the Times font is sizing very differently to the default font. How the font is rendered for different sizes is something that is out of our control, because we simply load the desired font based on it's name and adjusted size. It's then up to the font itself to draw at that size or not. I think the only thing possible is to choose a different font or stick with the default.

    Thanks,
    Sean
