Security Prices Don't Update
My security prices will not update. Period. I have tried everything I know, including deleting and reinstalling the Quotes Loader extension and Quotes and Exchanges Loader extension (with lots of relaunches of MD in between attempts. I updated MD to Version 2022.2 (4060) in hopes that would help. It didn't. I've tried changing settings, like when the update is supposed to happen (on start-up or at specific times and also changing the Next Date of the update). Maybe I need to uninstall MD and reinstall it? I don't understand why this isn't treated as an essential and basic function that has to work. Without it, MD is little more than a checkbook. I saw the Security Price Entry extension that would allow me to enter security prices manually but I don't want to have to do that myself. Tracking my investments is one of the two main reasons I use MD so if I have to do it myself, that's not helping me. I'm guessing there's some third party tool I can install with a lot of effort but, with all due respect, why isn't IK providing the functionality themselves? No offense to the people offering these tools, but that seems like a security risk to just take some advice from a message board and load something onto my computer from someone I don't know. I'm just confused why it isn't a MUST that this works.

Has QuoteLoader ever worked to update your prices? When did it stop working?
You don’t need both QL and Q&ER, just QuoteLoader.
Can you send a screenshot of your QL screen?
Can you also go to help/console and post the contents as an attached file.

Quote Loader used to work intermittently. I could never figure out the
pattern but my securities would update occasionally (definitely not
necessarily when I manually ran Quote Loader). I didn't like it then either
but now that it seems to have stopped working completely, I'm really
frustrated.
I'm attaching the two things you requested. I've tried various things
within Quote Loader. Like under Source where it says "Do Not Load" I've
changed that to Yahoo and a new price has appeared but it doesn't change
the numbers on my summary page, even when I've selected "Override Current
Price." When I try to to click "Click to Select All Lines" I get the error
message box in one of the screen shots (I don't know why the screen shot
only pulls the dialog box and not the whole screen including the Quote
Loader).
Best,
Hania

This setup will not work... It says "DO NOT LOAD"; thus nothing will load...
The source must be set to something like FT or FTHD or Yahoo or YahooHD.
Then you must click save parameters
Then click get prices
Then click to select all lines
Then click "save selected values"

(if you click select all lines before get price then you will get the error you showed)

Hi Hania
Based on your description and screen shots it looks like you are not following the correct process.
As a starting point try this.
1. Set the two dropdowns (Security) & (Currency) to MANUAL ONLY and click RESET AUTO RUN
2. Right click on the heading SOURCE and select SET ALL TO YAHOO.
3. Click SAVE PARAMETERS to save the setting you have made for the next time you open Quote Loader.
4. Click GET PRICES.
5. Wait for get prices run is complete.
6. Then click, CLICK TO SELECT ALL LINES
7. Then click SAVE SELECTED VALUES.
See screen shot for the first three of your securities.

Thanks. I already tried some of that. For example, I changed every single
one to Yahoo. It grabs some values but they don't save. But maybe I missed
a step. I'll try again following everything in your email.
Best,
Hania

Hi Hania
If you follow the process correctly there is no reason why Quote Loader should not return the correct price and save then to Moneydance.
Unless
1. The security is not supported by the source.
2. You need to select a market exchange under Exch Mod.
Once you have got things working any securities that don’t return a price just post a screen shot of the Quote Loader window as you did before but after you click GET PRICES.
Then take time to watch the videos and read the PDF
Hope this help.

Stock price updating stopped working for me, too, for last couple of days. It had worked fine for years. Now it reports "Error downloading price history for [eg] General Electric: No data found." It reports that for every single stock. There has been no change to my settings that worked every day for years before. What do you suggest?

Hi Dan
To get a error message that reads ‘No data found’ it sounds like you are using the extension Quote and Exchange Rate Updater.
Assuming you are running Moneydance 2019, 2020, 2021 or 2022 try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION
As you can see from the screen shot it has no problem in retuning a price for General Electric
For information on the features of this extension and how to use see post 200 at

Would you please delete the screenshots I sent to you. Since I received an
email from what looked like an individual person, I did not realize they
would be posted online.
Thanks,
Hania

But thank you for your help. After following all the instructions you
posted, it's working for me again! There are more steps involved than I
used to do (by updating manually like this) but it's much better than
having to look up and then enter individual security prices.
Best,
Hania

Hi Hania
You started a public discussion on the Moneydance forum. See the discussion at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/problems/76230-secur...
Moneydance forward any replies to your post by email, but we don’t see your email address.
There is nothing in your screen shots that is sensitive.
Only Moneydance Support can delete screen shots when they read your post.
Anyway I am glad Quote Loader is now working for you
Hope this helps

Hi Hania
Once set up you only need to click GET PRICES then CLICK TO SELECT ALL LINES then SAVE SELECTED VALUES.
Or you can set up auto run by following the PDF.
Hope this helps
