Hi Chris
I am no Linux expert but I am running Moneydance on Mint, Feren OS and Ubuntu
This is the process I use:
Downloaded moneydance_linux_amd64.deb
If not installed, install “GDebi Package Installer” in terminal
sudo apt install gdebi
Hope this helps.

The DEB install file for Moneydance has had Java bundled with it for the last several versions, so I'm not sure why you are getting that error. Are you installing the DEB file from https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software? If so, try to follow the instructions in the previous comment, and let us know if you get the same errors.
I just tried it on Linux Mint 20, which is based off of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, so it should still work on that system.

Derek,
Thanks for the update, it got me on the right path.
Not sure why, but the gdebi package was not installed. Got it installed and then tried to find the moneydance debian package.
Couldn't find that either, but did find the moneydance snap, 2019.0.0.1814 rev 2, so I should be good once that's installed.
Thanks for the support......Also just saw Ethan's update, so I'll get moneydance installed tomorrow.
Go ahead and close the ticket, mark it as a user install error.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris
Click the blue DOWNLOAD DEB button under Linux, to download moneydance_linux_amd64.deb file from https://infinitekind.com/preview
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure where that Moneydance snap came from, but it looks like it's a very out of date version, the 2019 version from the title. I'd strongly suggest not installing that version, as it's out of date, and I'm not sure where it is from (I'll look into this). Please make sure to install the DEB file from our website.

As an update, our lead developer reports that he created that snap a while ago, but obviously hasn't updated it in a while. The status on our end even still shows that's it's in "not released" status, so we're not sure why it's accessible at all. In any case, it's again best to download the version from our website, which will always be the most up to date.

Ethan,
I did what you recommended. I'd played around with the snaps, trying to get it to work and ultimately went back to the website version and started from scratch.
It worked first time. Not sure how I got playing in the weeds, but it was useful playing with Canonical's snaps.
Thanks for the support.
Cheers,
Chris
