HOW DO I REMOVE THIS SCREEN SO I CAN UPDATE THIS APP?

Hello,
I'm not quite sure what you mean. You can exit the app any time in the same way you exist any other app on your iPad. You don't need to close anything to go to do App Store and download an update, although it's extremely likely that you are already using the latest version, since we haven't had an update in a while.
