Did you purchase the program directly from us, or from the Mac App Store? If it's the latter, as long as you are signed in to the App Store with the same username, you should see Moneydance as a purchased item, and can download it from there.

If you purchased directly from us, you should download the program from our website, and register it with your existing license key.

Subject: Re: Moving to new Apple Computer [Problems #82016]
Hello Ethan

Thank you for your reply.

The original purchase was from the Apple App Store on a different Apple ID to that which I use now on my new Apple Mac. I understand from Apple that because of that I have to purchase a new copy of the program. I am not overly happy about that but I do not know of any way around it.

I see that the current available version from the App Store is 2021 and I just wondered if I did purchase that would it upgrade itself to the version I use on my old computer which is 2022.3 (4084)?

Best regards

The way around the problem for the future is not to buy Moneydance from Apple.

Buy Moneydance directly from the company, you are then entitled to incremental releases, plus a free upgrade to the next major release. You can also use Moneydance on as many machines in your household irrespective of the Operating System, for the price of one license. In addition you are not bound by the restrictions that Apple apply to software sold through the App Store.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/549715122022-07-13T09:50:19Z2022-07-13T09:50:19ZMoving to new Apple Computer

Hi John,

Apple requires that you purchase a program again if you're using a different Apple ID.

If you have 'Family Sharing' enabled, you can try adding both Apple accounts to the 'Family' which should allow you to access the program using the other Apple ID. You can read more about Family Sharing on the Apple website here - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201088

The App Store version of Moneydance is titled 'Moneydance 2021' but this is in error. Our lead developer is aware and will be updating the app listing so it's titled with the correct version.
If you look at the Moneydance page on the App Store, under the 'What’s New' heading, you'll see the latest release is Version 2022.3.

Alternatively, you can purchase Moneydance from our website directly on this page - this will allow you to download and run the program with any operating system.

Thank you Jenny for all the information. I will explore all those avenues and hopefully be up and running with Moneydance on my new Mac very soon.

Great program and for your information I came upon it from the Which? Magazine which classed it as one of their Best Buys for home accounts some time ago.

Thanks again for all your help.

Best regards
John
