When I try to download from our credit union I get an error code that my password is incorrect. And I need to use the password that was supplied when I set up online quicken-quickbooks.
I have forgotten that password. The credit union does not have access to it either.
I can 'export' transactions but I can't get them to save to MD. How do I get these transactions to MD?
Preferably,
Is there a way to find my password in the 'toolbox' extension or other MD location.
As usual, Thanks for the help.
Steve

    Hi Steve,
We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

Have you tried using the Forget Online Password feature under the Online Menu?

Forget Online Passwords Forgets passwords (in encrypted data files) for Direct Connect enabled accounts. To remember your account passwords, your file must be encrypted, as outlined here.

Then, in order to change your online password, open Moneydance and select your account. Choose Online --> Setup Online Banking. This will open a window that displays your current connection details for this account. Choose 'Change PIN' and enter your existing login credentials, finally input your new password.
Additionally, if you would like Moneydance to remember your passwords for automatic downloads, you can select the “Store Online Passwords in File” option.
After enabling this, you should enter your login credentials once more before they are stored, as outlined here.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

    Thanks for the suggestion but:

Do you have any other fixes-suggestions?

    Hi Steve,

I'm not from IK Support, but here's my take on things.

You wouldn't be able to extract any passwords from Moneydance using toolbox, or any other method.

You should be able to have your PIN reset at your Credit Union. You'd just have to contact the right office (Probably not your local Branch) and explain that you've forgotten your PIN/PSWD. There should be someone who works in their IT Department with Direct Connect/OFX online services that would be able to help you. Then just set your account up again in MD to use the new PIN.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by I can 'export' transactions but I can't get them to save to MD. How do I get these transactions to MD?

Are you exporting transactions from the Credit Union to import into MD (i.e. Manual Download)? If you're trying to perform a manual download, you can follow these instructions:

    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/m...

You can perform the manual downloads until you get your Direct Connect/Direct OFX connection back up and running.

    Hope this helps,

Tony (Fellow user, Not IK Support).

Firstly are you talking about OFX or md+?

If md+, then you are on your own on that one.

If OFX, then it depends if you are saying that the OFX passwords were/are already stored in MD?

If you think that they are in MD, then install latest signed version from here:

    https://github.com/yogi1967/MoneydancePythonScripts/raw/master/sign...

And then toolbox, online banking tools, option: ‘ View online banking configuration / connection data (OFX/DC and MD+) - VERY USEFUL, START HERE!’

Look through then output for the ofx profile in question.

@TonyRI - sorry to correct you, but OFX passwords, when stored in MD, can easily be viewed using toolbox.

No apology necessary Stuart. Thanks, I was completely unaware of that feature in Toolbox and I appreciate learning new things!

My apology to Steve, as I was just trying to provide my understanding and prefaced my answer with "my take on things," so I described what I would do if I were in the same situation.

There always seems to be various ways to accomplish the same task, however the Toolbox method is certainly a better/quicker alternative to my response.

    Thanks again! :)

Sorry for the late reply to this discussion.
    I'm using MD not MD+.
I did your toolbox suggestion (And then toolbox, online banking tools, option: ‘ View online banking configuration / connection data (OFX/DC and MD+) - VERY USEFUL, START HERE!’).
But I don't see any of my passwords for my accounts, checking, savings, credit/debit cards. I see the 'getpassthis' , 'getpassthat' etc., but no password is shown on any of the accounts.
I know for sure that I had passwords to all of my accounts as I have been using MD for quite a few years now.
Any further help/suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks again,
    Steve

I have reached out to my credit union & they state that they don't have access to my password as it is stored in my banking program.
But I can't find it to download to my new account.
Does anybody have any help, tips or suggestions that can help to clear this up for me?
    Thanks,
    Steve

It sounds like you need to ask your Credit Union to reset your online banking password on their system and then tell you what they have set it to, just as they would have done when they originally enabled it.

I agree with the previous comment. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what your bank said, but they need to reset your pin on their end. We can then reset your connection in Moneydance to match that. They should be able to reset your pin regardless of whatever program you are running. That won't change anything in the program itself (which sounds like the response they gave you?), but you can change that yourself.

    @Ihorne2 and @Stuart Beesley

I too have tried to find my Direct Connect/OFX password utilizing the suggested method and haven't had any luck. I even copied and pasted the output to a document file and performed a search for it (as I definitely know the OFX password) with no luck. I do see credit card passwords, but nothing available for my Checking/Savings/MM accounts with my Credit Union.

Stuart, can you please verify the information that you had provided:

"And then toolbox, online banking tools, option: ‘ View online banking configuration / connection data (OFX/DC and MD+) - VERY USEFUL, START HERE!’

Look through then output for the ofx profile in question."

    Thanks,

    Tony

@tonyri. If the ofx password has been stored, then yes, this option will show it (as long as you say NO to redact).

Ah, Okay, I was looking in the wrong area under the Account Names.

    I found it under:

ROOT Data associated with service profile:

    REALMs configured:
Realm: default User ID: XXXXX Etc.

    Thank you :)
