Syncing to other devices

I have MD 2021 on my Mac and sync with the App on my iPhone. The only way I know to get the Mac version to create a new sync file is to close and reopen Moneydance where it will write a sync file to Dropbox. If I am just putting in transactions either on my phone or the Mac it will not be the same until I close and reopen Moneydance. Is there another way to keep the sync file current when I am in Moneydance on my Mac?
