Plaid is adding weird securities!
So I have a Schwab brokerage account connected using Plaid. When I ask to download that account, it then lists a new security that I have never held (nor want to) and asks if it is a new item. I say yes, and it adds it to my security list, but not to the account. I can then delete it but it comes back every time. The CUSIP is not the same as any security I hold in that account. The Ticker symbol is not filled in.
The console log shows nothing about the security, just that it found no new transactions in the download. With the console window open, I see the following
downloading from XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, with starting date Fri Dec 30 00:01:00 EST 2022
received MD+ txn: YYYYY
received MD+ txn: ZZZZZZ
logging txn; file: tiksync/out/20230112230418_615.txn-tmp
logging txn; file: tiksync/out/20230112230418_615.txn-tmp
account modified: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
it took 0.032 seconds to eliminate 2 duplicates from 2 downloaded transactions
account modified: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
logging txn; file: tiksync/out/20230112230418_615.txn-tmp
And there is nothing about new securities.Keyboard shortcuts

Me too. Seems related to a bucket for cash transactions.

So plaid isn’t adding them, plaid is just sending what schwab sends

@dtd, Maybe? It is possible that Plaid is making an error when reformatting the information from Schwab. I never had that happen in the old days when getting an OFX file from Schwab. Now Plaid gets the info in FDX format from Schwab and then reformats it to OFX(?) and passes it to IK who then passes it to MD. (A lot of guess work in that).
BUT, like the traditional game of telephone, it is unclear where the repeated information is corrupted or misinterpreted. If it is a bucket for cash transactions, then why does it pick a small gold mining stock to represent it?

Mine is just a set of numbers as the “security”. If an error this is the only error I see, everything else seems correct.

I had a couple of those as well, but I deleted them and they didn't come back the Buscar gold mining security kept returning.

I believe Plaid uses their own API to pass transactions to Moneydance so I do not think OFX is involved.

This happens regularly to me. Downloading from an investment account I get a query about a numeric security asking if it is a match to any of my securities. It is not, but I get a transaction in the register showing a reinvestment from cash to this security. Delete the transaction and delete the security from the account. All done. (If you do not know which account has the security use the Toolbox extension)

Given you delete the transaction (and delete the security) how do you handle entering the reinvestment from cash into the Schwab account?

I think the numbered security is actual just cash in the account, So it is not a real transaction, just cash to cash.

I have a security in that account called Cash. I credit interest on Cash to return on that security. It never has any holdings. I will rename the Numeric security to be Cash and all will be well.
