Which report are you using ?

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-27T00:24:27Z2023-03-27T00:24:27ZReport dates all muddled

And if you could also include a screenshot of the settings window for this report, that would be helpful as well.

I'm trying to reproduce your issue, but I have some questions.
The example report you show does not seem to have all the columns that I get on from my Transactions Filter report. I have 8 columns, Account, Date, Check#, Description, Category, Tags, C, and Amount. You don't seem to have some of those columns in your reports. Also when I look at your example report, I see Account names (in the first column) that also have the exact Category name ( in the third column), and also the 4th column in your example does not show the category subtotal as it does in my report. I also noticed that you are on running the report against the 01-NW Current Joint 7658 account, but the 1st column seems to be showing other accounts. So I'm a bit confused. But I will say that the Transaction Filter report has been known to have some issues in the past and I don't know if they were all resolved. Unfortunately the Transaction Filter report is the only report that will subtotal by Category.

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-28T21:46:41Z2023-03-28T21:46:41ZReport dates all muddled

"Unfortunately the Transaction Filter report is the only report that will subtotal by Category."

The Income and Expense reports subtotal by category, that is their intent.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-28T22:25:49Z2023-03-28T22:25:49ZReport dates all muddled

just a user,

dwg is correct about the Income and Expense report. It will subtotal by category but shows only subtotals with in the date range. Does not list individual transactions like the Transaction filter does.

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-28T22:43:26Z2023-03-28T22:43:27ZReport dates all muddled

If you need to sort this by date URGENTLY, and can't get the transaction filter report to behave, copy these results to the clipboard and paste it into a spreadsheet program like Excel. You may have to diddle with the delimiters to get it just right. Then sort the spreadsheet.

Marktag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-28T22:51:05Z2023-03-28T22:51:05ZReport dates all muddled

I think it probably depend on what sort of detail you are looking for whether the Transaction Filter report or the Income & Expense detailed report works for you.

The Transaction Filter report has had a number of issues over the years.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-29T02:29:42Z2023-03-29T02:29:42ZReport dates all muddled

just a user,

I was finally able to reproduce the issue you see. It took some time to see it because mostly the report keeps the dates in order. But I ran a large report and looked for date issues and found several places where the dates were out of order. Did not find any issues with the transactions and I found the same problem without the TAG filter, so I must surmise the Transaction Filter report has another problem. Looks like your only solution is to export to a CSV file and fix it with a spreadsheet. I couldn't find another report where the Tag is included in the report.

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/583795522023-03-29T07:56:35Z2023-03-29T07:56:35ZReport dates all muddled

Hi all
Thanks for looking into this….

I see Account names (in the first column) that also have the exact Category name ( in the third column).

The reason I have the same name is for Mastercard account I have a chk. Drop down for Mastercard, which includes Mastercard, Online, Eft and so on. So if I use my Mastercard in a shop on my Mastercard account, the same name shows in both columns. If I pay online from the Mastercard account the third column would show 'Online'.

I also noticed that you are on running the report against the 01-NW Current Joint 7658 account, but the 1st column seems to be showing other accounts

As the account field is not checked I assumed it runs the report on all accounts which is what I want. If I check the account field I guess the report will run on whatever account is selected.

As i have said in previous posts I wish new features, more just released!, were put on hold and long lasting bugs in some essential areas - like Reporting, were well and truly squashed. But I don't see it happening for whatever reason which is a real shame and detracts from the day to day use of the program.
There!!!
Many thanks again and cheers…

tonyt
