My backup size has been growing slowly in increments of approximately .5MB to just about 407MB; since upgrading to Moneydance 2023, it appears to be growing in increments of 20+MB; is anyone else seeing something like this? :-)

Can you load latest toolbox preview from my site:
And then run and click analyse datasets and objects button. Then post output here?

Hi Stuart - MANY THANKS! :-)

In the listing, you'll see that I have gone back to a prior backup, multiple times, to see whether I could figure out whether the problem is in the data set or???

I'm usually running MoneyDance on a Chromebook and have had excellent results over the years of doing so. The Chromebook shares Moneydance datasets and backup files with a Windows box over a shared set of folders. MoneyDance settings are kept locally on each box. This problem first arose on the Chromebook; I started MoneyDance on the Windows box this morning and ran the Toolbox on the Windows box.

The attached toolbox output is generated on the Windows box after I restored the dataset from the last potentially good(?) dataset 3/31/3023, 417,079 KB.

Upon running the toolbox preview, I also get the error of cross-linked or orphaned Security Transactions. I have not run the fix yet, wanting to keep thigs stable for your analysis. I've also attached the Console file, also.

    1. You are not on MD2023. You are on MD2022.6(4097)?

    1. Run toolbox, advanced menu, shrink dataset and set zero days. If you are not using sync then also say yes to purge out. Dataset should shrink to about 80mb.

    2. These files should not be there and can be deleted.

    • Non-core: 1.3MB C:\Users\kwpk.moneydance\Documents\ddk-kwpk.moneydance\safe\tiksync\processed (1).dct
    • Non-core: 62.1MB C:\Users\kwpk.moneydance\Documents\ddk-kwpk.moneydance\safe\tiksync\trunk (1)

NOTE the (1) on the end. Do not touch the files without the (1) ending!

    Let me know?

With continued MANY THANKS: on the Windows box, the first backup after the cleanup is down to 76,593KB - sweet!!!! A second backup, taken about five minutes later, with the only changes the automatic stock quotes and exchange rates updates is 76,698KB - I think you've done it once again!!!!! :-D

And my apologies for the miscue on the Mondeydance release: the Chromebook is running 5005 (and soon 5006); the Windows box is still (but not much longer) at 4097; the problem first cropped on on the Chromebook side...

If the problem re-appears on the Chromebook side, I may have to "blow away" the Linux environment there and re-establish it.... but at least I now know where to look!!!!

PS: do you have a tip jar or similar????? :-)
