American Express
American Express no longer downloading due to Quicken having made changes It is unclear to me how to make Moneydance downloads work again since there are only instructions for Quicken.

just a user - are you referring to OFX downloads? If so, Moneydance uses the exact same protocol as Quicken.
If you are talking savings accounts in Amex, they have never used OFX.
So I'm not sure what you are asking... I just downloaded all my Amex accounts to insure nothing changed in the last day or so.

Your response was a copy of the email you received, but I don't see any new response.
You may want to post at:

Hi,
Unfortunately, American Express has discontinued its use of OFX Direct Connect, which is required to download your transactions automatically into Moneydance for free. Sorry I don't have better news. I've made a change in Moneydance so AMEX will shortly be removed from our list of supported financial institutions.
Without Direct Connect, you can still import your data into the program for free. To do this you can use a web browser to download files from your bank's website.
OFX and QFX files are the best formats to download, with QIF files being the second best and CSV files being a distant third. You can import the files to Moneydance using File > Import. The steps for manually importing your data are outlined in this article.
Alternatively, if you're using Moneydance 2022 or 2023, you can subscribe to Moneydance+. This is the new (optional) subscription service that allows you to download transactions from your banks using the Plaid aggregator. You can read more about Moneydance+ in this blog post.
The steps for setting up this service are outlined here. If you have a Moneydance 2023 license key, the cost to use Moneydance+ is $4/monthly, and there is a 30-day free trial so you can fully test downloading from your bank before you're charged.

Jenny,
I just chatted with American Express, they said they don't see any plans to remove OFX Direct Connect support.. at least at the online web chat support level. Also, American Express OFX still works for me..
Presumably Moneydance has more direct contact with developers? Is there a date that OFX support is planned to be turned off?
Thanks,
Evan

@Evan
American Express has discontinued Direct Connect and Express Web and updated to a new method of providing data to applications like Quicken, called EWC+ (Quicken Connect in Mac) as outlined here.
If you were using this connection method prior to the change, it may still work for sometimes before it stop working completely. Perhaps, this is what is happening in your case.

just a user- to the best of my knowledge, Maddy is correct in that is the plan. However Amex Credit Card OFX still works for me, (not necessarily Checking and I know not Savings).
Jenny did remove the OFX connection for American Express in April. I needed to disconnect and reconnect (which would probably test the "already has discontinued" the OFX concept. Of course, I could not do that without the builtin Amex OFX connection.
So, I used the advanced option to create one myself. I don't have my full notes with me, but basically, you go to pick a bank, then use the advanced options (and yes you are told not to do this...

Evan - you say yours is working (so is mine), but for anyone who has disconnected ofx, or had it disconnected - doing the above may get it back until Amex actually decides to implement their plan to move to EWC+

DTD - thank you so much for these AmEx connection details. I had an account number change and this let me get it working again!
