An old issue seems to be resurfacing with USAA. I am getting communications Error 2000 - I've been using Moneydance for many years and I am wondering if the issue is on the USAA side. Anyone else experiencing the same issue these past few weeks?

    Hi Bernard A Breton,

There was a user on another forum that reported an issue with USAA but later reported that the issue was resolved @ roughtly 3:30 PM EDT.

    Check this thread out:

To answer your question, it is definitely on USAA's side.

I can get rid of the 2000 error by approving Quicken downloads at the accessid link (see thread), but it won't stick - I have about 15 approvals over the last couple of weeks - usually lasts a few hours. Note: sometimes it works, then 2000 error, then it comes back again, but at some point 2000 sticks around until I "rinse and recycle".

Expect it to stop working entirely at some point. If/when that happens, MD+ is your only option unless you want to download/import csv files.

Back in May of last year, I posted about an issue I was having with MD+ and USAA. I don't recall the MD+ error code, but I lost my connection through Plaid and once I reconnected it, I kept getting a message from Plaid "No compatible accounts." The same thing is happening again almost exactly a year later. Unfortunately, I think it was a knowledgeable MD+ user that helped me resolve it, but I don't remember what he had me do to fix it so I haven't been able to get it resolved. Not sure if the two issues are related. I vaguely recalled using something in Toolbox to get rid of a blank account connection, but I'm just not sure.

The two issues should not be related, but with everything USAA is changing, who knows.

There are definitely functions to clean up things in MD+ with Toolbox, so that would be worth a try - probably wait for Stuart to show up (he's in the UK) and offer suggestions.

As an aside, I just installed USAA on MD+ (again) and had no issues (other than making sure I reset sync date so as not to get as many duplicates).

I now have both OFX and MD+ for USAA so I can continue testing USAA as it changes things.

@Gina - you say "no compatible accounts" - what accounts do you have that you feel should be recognized? I assume you get directed to USAA and are asked to login, then are asked if you approve of Plaid gathering your data, correct?

I have a savings account, and it had been working just fine for the past year.

I tried both re-linking it then disconnecting it and re-connecting it. Both worked fine from Plaid’s point of view, but finds no compatible accounts.

just a user - how active is that savings account? USAA makes inactive accounts go dormant (so you wouldn't see it), if it is fairly inactive, a small deposit or withdrawal might make it visible again.

just a user - and "dormant" doesn't include interest payments, interest payments don't keep them active.

That may be the issue. I don’t use that account much. I try a transaction.

It may take a day or two to trigger (i.e. get recorded, dormancy removed, etc.)

I'm having the same '2000 General Error' error code via OFX (python script setup). I have both a checking and credit card that both return 2000. The credit card is definitely not dormant, fwiw.

I tried again just now. The ofx downloads worked for both of my accounts (chk & card). Just another data point for everyone.

just a user - Expect that to keep happening. One way to get rid of the 2000 error immediately is to go to www.usaa.com/accessid and say "let quicken access my accounts". I've found that gets rid of the 2000 error, until it comes back again (usually a few hours later).

As you noticed, sometimes it gyrates back and forth without doing what I suggest above, but it's getting worse, probably on purpose.

The issue resolved itself. It must have been related to all the web access issues that USAA had early this week. Thank you everyone for your quick responses and assistance. You can always count on quick information and help from the MD users!
