"It was running great prior" - I'm going to assume you just upgraded to Sonoma 14.1.1 and prior were not running Sonoma.
If so, Sonoma is still not validated by MD because Apple totally changed how iCloud works. Assuming you are running iCloud sync, disable it. Either live without syncing or move to Dropbox for now.
Unfortunately, this is something that MD can't totally fix - Apple has to address how they changed iCloud. That said, Apple rarely admits they changed something incorrectly, so we will see. MD may eventually capitulate and wewrite how they do isync, but don't bet on that soon.
thanks for the reply. the process actually was 1) i upgraded to sonoma a
few days ago and then 2) i then upgraded from 2023.1 to 2023.2 just
yesterday. that is when i noticed the slowdown.... although I had not used
MD significantly between the sonoma upgrade and the MD update.
If i disable icloud syncing, how does MD then work - is it all local files
on my computer? i have used dropbox sync in the past but i am trying to
stay away from dropbox.
thank you very much for the reply! i've been a loyal MD user for many
The iCloud implementation in Sonoma has been identified as a problem, one that it seems that Moneydance cannot fix, Moneydance is just using standard Apple API calls, hence relying on updates Apple may provide to address the problem. Hence to support Syncing at this time it is recommended to use Dropbox which is not displaying any such problem.
Without either Dropbox or iCloud syncing to a mobile device cannot happen, syncing to other devices could happen if you have a service that can support Shared Files, otherwise you are limited to a standalone system.
thanks Stuart, i did disable icloud sync; seems to be a bit better now. I
don't use my MD on my phone much, so having just one computer will not be a
bad thing necessarily. i would like to ensure backups with icloud
while i have this thread open, i have another question - is it best to
start a new thread? I noticed today that my fidelity stopped syncing, and
then after some research I learned Fidelity no longer supports plaid. Two
questions for you and the team:
--Fidelity says they have their own service, "Fidelity Connect" - how does
that work with MoneyDance?
--When I followed some articles on IK site, it showed how to delink the
MoneyDance+ from Fidelity. However, when i go back in and try to set up
the "online banking" - it keeps defaulting to the MD+ screen. How can i
set up just online banking and not MD+ for fidelity, but still use MD+ for
my other accounts?
