Importing duplicate transactions.
When I download new transactions from my bank, whether they be qif or qfx, Moneydance will import the new transactions plus duplicate transactions that I have already downloaded. Using the same files when I download them into Ace Money only the new files are downloaded. Is this something in the coding of your program that could be fixed and only allow for new transactions to be added to existing file?
Thanks,
Rick Johnson

Moneydance detects for duplicates, but uses the hidden FITID field to do so.
Do you download the files manually and then import, or use OFX or MD+?
If the FITIDs match, then only new transactions will be added, the duplicates would be discarded. So, the question becomes what sources do you use to import, and do they agree in the FITID field.
(Yes, I know I'm not answering your question directly other than it can and does work... we have to figure out what files you are using and what FITID values they have. One way to start is take two "duplicate" transactions, right click, show transaction details and compare the <FITID> or fitxnid values.)

I am Downloading the transactions manually and then importing them into
Moneydance. When I right click on the QFX and then click on properties I
don't see a FITID field. You might be asking something that is beyond my
capability. When I import the exact same file into Ace Money it only
imports new transactions.

In moneydance find the transaction(s) in question (not the file you imported, but you could open that file in textedit and do the same thing) right click on the transaction(s), then at the very bottom of the right click list choose show transaction details.
When you say "exact same file" - I assume you mean more than one file, as you'd only get duplicates if you do more than one file (as you say, that I have already downloaded).
AceMoney could be relying on different criteria for duplicates, but the standard is the FITID field. For example - same description, same day, same price. But what if you buy an item on a day from the gas station for $3.27, and on the way home, buy another item for that same price?
That's what an FITID field is for, to delineate those as NOT duplicates. BTW, Quicken got that wrong for years, and dropped the second transaction as "not new".

There is no way of definitively identifying duplicates with QIF files as there are no transaction IDs so Moneydance errs by not trying to identify and eliminate any.
With OFX downloads it does depend on if the institution does include IDs - it is not mandatory so that is the first thing. My memory is a little hazy but I think part of the algorithm may be that it only compares new downloads to confirmed transactions.
