I just updated my Linux version of Moneydance to the newest release and there are two issues I have found so far:

Windows -
- The window width on every new window that is opened, including from startup are all about 10 pixels wide. The window positions to do retain the positions on multi-screen setup as they did before.

I closed and reopened the session thinking maybe the version needed to resave the window sizes I set but on the next start, it again only shows a narrow 10px (approx) wide window and not the normal opened size.

Definitely being looked at, but I'll send this to Sean directly.

    What was the second issue?

The second issue resolved itself on restart. The extensions were not showing up.

Yahoo updates through quote loader stopped working a few days ago for me, I had to switch each item I wanted to FT and now it updates. Just an FYI in Case anyone else has that issue.

Which Linux distro and version are you on?

regarding the window sizes, do you by any chance have multiple monitors? If you resize and move all of the windows to the leftmost display and then restart moneydance, do they display normally the next time?

    Thanks,
    Sean

I also reported this same issue. I do have multiple monitors and tried what Sean suggested and, sure enough, the windows are no longer 10 or so pixels wide. They are a "normal" size. Once I drag the main window to the right monitor & retry, the reminder window is once again about 10 pixels wide.

Sean thinks he may have found the cause of problem.

    Similar problem.
    Linux Mint -- multiple displays.
MoneyDance now opens on the previous display (rather than the top-left) thank you!
But all windows are only tall enough to display the menu bar. This includes pop-ups for reminders. The "saving backup" widget at close time is zero size on the default (right-most) display.

dwg - I am running OpenSuse 15.3 at the moment using Xorg display with native NVidia driver, not Watland.

Is there anything preventing me from reinstalling the prior version until this is fixed?

If you were running 5064 before, you should be able to put it back into place.

But dwg knows more about Linux systems than I do.

Well OpenSuse is not a left field distro, so would not expect it to throw up anything. Xorg it expected to be fine it is the original Xserver, Wayland can have its moments at times being the new kid on the block.

Sean though thinks it is something more generic that effects certain configurations, hence why we are all not seeing it, Sean did manage to reproduce the problem, I do not know what he did to do so. We are awaiting a build to verify the problem has been found and fixed.

If you were using Moneydance 2023 you should have no trouble going back, I would uninstall the newer version first then install the older. I tend to jump around versions on my test system and have found Linux sometimes does not like you trying to downgrade by overwriting.

Can you send me a link for the .deb?

I have downloaded 2024.1 Bld 5118 and the window issue is corrected. Thank you.

    BUT,
The download info said it was a Free Upgrade for me, which the prior bld was (5117), but after install it now shows I'm in demo mode and won't accept the last license key I purchased.

    Do I need to repurchase?

    Message written elsewhere by dwg:

Some users with a Moneydance 2022 license can use 2024.0 but not 2024.1

The problem is that the initial release of Moneydance 2024 in some cases accepted license keys purchased for 2022 as a free upgrade when it should not have. This has been corrected for Moneydance 2024.1, but the updater will not say that it is a paid for upgrade because the updater thinks the software already has a valid 2024 license for people who have only purchased 2022. The updater cannot be changed to recognize this as the problem is in Moneydance 2024.0 itself.

The Moneydance upgrade policy is that purchasing a license entitles you to use that version of Moneydance plus a free upgrade to the next major release.

Moneydance versions 2022, 2023 and 2024 are all considered major versions.

You have a number of choices:

    1. You can downgrade to the version you were previously on. There have not been any data format changes in the latest release.

    2. You can upgrade to the latest release at a discount https://infinitekind.com/update
(or read my next message for a simpler upgrade given your situation)

This oversight has just been an unfortunate error. Your entitlements remain as they have been for many years.

Unfortunately these glitches happen at times.

    Message written by me:

I assume you want to upgrade to 5118 given it fixes a bug you reported.

Given you are already in 5118 in demo mode - the simplest way to upgrade would be to click on the "Upgrade" button on the line that says you have "100 entries".

That should take you to a page where you can upgrade for a significant discount, and it will be good for both 2024 and 2025 (just as your 2022 version is good for both 2022 and 2023). [The software knows you have the 2022 code, it just won't recognize it anymore]

Or, as dwg said, you can go back to 2023.3(5064) as you are never forced to upgrade.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you for the explanation. Got it. I will of course, upgrade.
