Another user found this little trick out a few years ago, thank you for confirming it still exists.

http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/suggestions-for-our-knowle...

However as I recall this only allowed for exporting one account at a time and this is a real nuisance, it certainly does not help with the problem of creating duplicates. I'm wondering if the QIFs produced have enough header information that would enable the combining of all the individual QIF files into one larger QIF and perhaps avoid some problems in this regards.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481450752020-03-12T23:06:44Z2020-03-12T23:06:45ZExporting data from Reckon Personal Plus in QIF format

Hi dwg,
Thanks for your answer, yes only one account at a time. It's a pain but I will perservere. I am using Reckon PP 2020

On my import testing of the so created QIF files I found that if I had posted back into an account the import created a duplicate account to cover the posting e.g. 'SavingsX ' account was created as well as the original 'Savings' account. :-(.

I have been testing Michael Young's solution and have found that a couple of tweaks were needed because of the time lag. I note that you have created an addendum. Any chance of seeing your spreadsheet? I can only access your document.

I have found that some accounts/categories can be duplicated in the export process so I have created an empty account in Reckon and exported that to a QIF file along with all other accounts and categories fields ticked. Subsequent exports for other files are done without these items ticked. Seems to work OK.

The QIF files created from Reckon seem to have the necessary header info, as far as combining the QIF files this is out of my technical prowess. Would be nice though.

Nice party trick but not going to win any friends in accounting circles or the ATO. The latest preview versions of Moneydance can handle this Reckon quirk if it is used for the initial balance. Otherwise you get the accountX creation to make the transaction meet the rules.

I'm assuming you mean the extensions I made to Michael's spreadsheet. I added to the formulas to deal with some common situations. A copy is attached in a zip file.

There is another spreadsheet to deal with Investment accounts, it looks very similar but uses a lot of VBA code to parse the data rather than the formula based sheet that handles bank type accounts. i built it in the days of Moneydance 2012 and dealt with some specifics around that version, the QIF importer is quite different now, I'm not sure how useful it would be now and I suspect the QIF files that Reckon can produce may be a better starting point in any case.

In some recent testing I found the latest version of Moneydance handles duplicates much better than it used to, but not something that I think could be completely solved.

Combining QIFs could be interesting but it would most likely need some additional QIF entries manually added to give the importer what is needed, I suspect the QIFs produced just have the minimum required for a single account.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481450752020-03-13T07:07:25Z2020-03-13T07:07:25ZExporting data from Reckon Personal Plus in QIF format

Hi again dwg

I think I will (for the while) persevere with the QIF export from Reckon. So far so good.

I'll let you know how I go

cheers
