We already plan to allow for adding securities of type "other"
to the next mjor release, which people could use to manually track
the value of anything e,g, gold bullion or real estate. You could
include your Money market account or cash under this category.

I tend to think of a Money Market account as a checking account
that pays interest. Would it not be more appropriate to use a
Moneydance bank account or asset account instead of an investment
account security to track such assets?

Sincerely

I'm glad the hear that there are plans afoot to add an additional
security type category.
In THIS instance "Money Market" means the associated cash to fund
the brokerage account. I should've been more clear.
type "mutual fund" and it works fine. I can't think of when I use
those labels for anything anyway.

John Seldentag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2218202009-06-29T13:00:23Z2009-12-10T00:14:30ZMoney Market / Cash

Hi John,

I can't think of when I use those labels for anything anyway.
Labeling your securities (Stock, Mutual, Bond, etc) generates an
Asset Distribution chart in Portfolio View of your brokerage
account. Seeing a quick asset allocation, including that of the
associated cash / money market funds can be useful.
As of now, I too am designating the associated cash / money market
as Mutual.
It seems however, that if you designate ALL holdings in a
particular brokerage account with the same category, then no Asset
Distribution chart is generated. Possible bug?
