Left pane account grouping

I've made some suggestions earlier regarding account grouping in the left pane. This goes back from 2013 and was upvoted by several others. However, i see nothing as company of it as yet -- and that discussion is closed.

The request is for the LEFT PANE to have collapsible/grouped folders.

An much easier alternative to implement may be to display the MIDDLE PANE of the Summary Page on the left ? But it needs to be always visible on all screens. The middle page already has the grouping/collapsible option ( when accounts are created with the parent account option ) - so this might be an easier method ? I'm sure everyone using Moneydance will see this as a very positive and practical change.

    Hi Roney,

    Thank you for contacting us.
You are correct a ticket was opened in our ticketing system, however this was not implemented, I have added your comment of the middle pane, to the ticket for the developers to have an additional option.

I apologize for the lack of activity on this suggestion.

    Thanks Henry,
I am confident that this will be a welcome change to many -- once they get
to see how useful it can be. My earlier email regarding the search box will
    compliment this feature even more.

    Rgds,

And, if a user could put any account (regardless of type), or other groups, into a user named sidebar group (with totalization for "rolled up" groups), that would be even better. A great example would be a retirement group with bank and investment accounts for husband and wife subgroups.

    Hello,

The suggestion ticket is still open. All threads on our site automatically close after 13 weeks. This does not close a feature request itself.

    Hello.
Please can we have some sort of development on this request. This is a key area that will help with the use of Moneydance and is perhaps a very easy update to bring about.

Please can you assist with this.

I think it can be safely said nothing has happened with this request, there has been nothing mentioned in regards to it with Moneydance.next

However, you can achieve any grouping of accounts on the summary page by using the Custom Balances extension and this includes totals. This would be the way I would recommend going today.

I use the extension to show relationship account balances and totals. So in one of my groups I have shares, a bank account and a Credit card account, another for mutual funds etc.

    Hi dwg,
Good to know that the Customs Balances have added this feature... looks like I might be using an older version ( I've been away for quite a while - would be good get notification of updates.. but I think I have mentioned this to Stuart previously). Perhasp even more intuitive/easier would be a small video ( with sample data ) that can broadly explain how to use this. Figuring out the nitty gritties is often tedious with trial and erros to reach an expected result.

Whilst I am keen on having/using Custom Balances, really, the left pane is still the key one to have - as that will be the window that will always be visible across all account-areas.
