Credit card OFX download with positive/inverted balance

Hi,

I have a CC with a bank that unfortunately provides OFX downloads with an inverted/positive balance. I have contacted, but to no avail ("we know better than the standard" ...).

This leads to 2 issues, (a) a warning dialog every time I try to reconcile, and (b) a vast balance mismatch. I can of course click the "Ok" in the warning dialog, but the balance discrepancy is cumbersome.

Would it be possible to have a checkbox "Inverted balance" for credit card accounts, so that MD can take care of that for me?

Thank you,
Clemens

    I'm a fellow user.

We have seen banks provide OFX data like this over the years unfortunately.

Moneydance has a setting that usually correct this.

Go to the preferences: from the Moneydance menu select File --> Preferences

Then on the Network Tab select the option to "Ignore Transaction types in favor of Amount signs" Hopefully that fixes the import issue. it will not change any transactions already imported.

Thank you for the tip, dwg, I will certainly try this.

To clarify: It's only the balance that has the wrong sign, the individual transactions are correct.

Also, I can of course manually change the sign in the initial popup on every reconciliation. But when the process makes me do such a repetitive job manually, why use a computer in the first place?

    Thanks,
    Clemens

Well that is a different problem.

A couple of things come to mind.

Often when we see the balance has the wrong sign we find that the starting balance has been incorrectly set.

With the register Open select Edit Account and the starting balance is on this screen.

Another thing that throws people is if the sort order is not "by date" click on date in the header to do a simple sort by date.

Thanks - to clarify: the absolute balance amount is correct, it's just the wrong sign.

    Thanks,
    Clemens
