If the accounts you want to sum together are of the same type
you can create a parent account and set it as the parent for each
of the accounts you want to report on. Or example if you wanted to
see total credit card debt. You could create a new Credit Card
account called "Total Credit card Debt". Then edit each of your
credit cards to set the new account as the parent. Then when you
want to run an account balance report, in the report options selet
the "Total Credit card Debt" account and check the box that says
"'Include sub accounts".

should be possible automatically to graph all accounts of a certain
type.

For some reason, however, I can't set a parent account for my
investment accounts, so this suggestion doesn't work for what I
really wanted to do. Is there something special about investment
accounts that prevents them from having parents? (poor things, are
they doomed forever to be orphans?)

investment accounts to have parents and he said that it should be
an easy fix and that it will make it into MD2010. MD2010 will be a
free upgrade to users who bought MD2008 and should be out before
then end of 2009.

Another thing that would be really nice would be able to graph
several investments (currencies) on the same graph, but
individually. Right now, grouping them under a parent would graph
their total value of any children or currencies (holdings). What
I'd like to be able to do is see a graph of my investment account,
with the values shown individually for each holding. Or possibly, %
change could be more useful since the value might be hard to
scale.

Jeff Ricetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/3513462009-09-30T15:39:42Z2009-09-30T15:39:42ZMore graphing options

Hi Jeff
