Is there a way to lock the account prior to a date to prevent transactions to be entered? I have had issues where I have entered a transaction with the wrong date and then it changes the account closing. I would like to set a data like Dec. 31, 2024 on an account and then have it not allow any entries before then.

    2025-0401.. Good suggestion for a program enhancement…
Maybe lock all the transactions and reconciled balances, prior to and up to the last reconciled account balance, with a warning of “OUT-OF’DATE RANGE” screen warning, for other than a subsequent current, dated data entry?
Finding these wrong dated entries by screening for unreconciled transactions, usually locates that transaction, butnif not, then a long process to find the dated error transaction, especially if user has 5, 10, or more years of transactions,.

I really like this idea! I think we should definitely create a ticket for it, although it'll need some thought put into how it works, because transactions might be deleted via syncing, or entered via file imports in a way that we shouldn't prevent. However I hope we can do something like this.

    Thanks,
    Sean

One alternative could be a warning that

The action in question will take place within cleared transactions and might drastically change the current balances.

    Do you want to continue?
    [Yes] [No]

There are already types of activities that do this exact thing, so including an existing warning step might not be that difficult.

    What say ye?
